New Setup!

Hi Guys,

I've just completed my order for the following;

VU+ Solo 2 Twin Tunes DVB-S2 Preloaded with ViX Image

Technomate 80cm Mesh Dish
Technomate Tm-2600 motor (Diseqc/USALS)
Technomate TM-4 Gold Quad 0.1db LNB.
Wall mount kit, F Type connectors. clips, tape, cable etc..

I'm new to all this satellite stuff, but my dad used to have a motorised dish humax / protek boxes etc.. a few years back bun unfortunately he's now passed away.

I've looked over various posts / videos regarding setting the dish up.

From what I gather im looking to find hotbird 12 / 19 / 23 / 30w and viast etc..

But I am a bit lost on how I find my current location to set he dish up?

use dishpointer or bingmaps or your satnav to find your longitude and latitude

there is a sticky thread on setting up a motorised dish, and we have a vu section here too

you can use catseyes settings (channel) list on your new E2 box

certainly some of the details on there are what you need, including your longitude and latitude

you really need to get more satellites so have a look at what I wrote in here where I listed the popular ones

I will be able to get the following looking at website again.

30w , 15w , 5w , 0.8w , 5e , 7e , 10e , 13e , 16e , 19e , 23.5e , 28.2e , 39e , 42e

Box & Dish will be with me tomorrow, so will start running the cables and get the bracket on the wall Saturday and see where we get too!

Looking forward to getting it all setup I doubt ill have it all done in time for the arsenal / man city game though, but I will try!

i cannot stress this highly enough m8 your wall bracket needs to be 100% plumb in all planes and the dish needs to be centerd on the motor stub. everything else will fall into place if these are set up correctly. regards mdt

When you say plumb, do you mean bang on level?

And isit best to;

1: fit the bracket to the wall bang on
2: connect the dish and bracketry to the motor
3: then fit the complete unit to the bracket, and terminate the connections at this point?

plumb here means absolutely vertical, using a plumb line or a spirit level but top to bottom not side to side

so its not about level in the horizontal meaning (like floors in a house) but vertically plumb like hanging wallpaper, but around the 360 degrees sides of the vertical pole of that bracket

so the pole the motor bolts onto must be vertically plumb on all sides

1) pack the mount to ensure the vertical pole is vertically plumb

2) yes, ensuring the dish is aligned exactly with the motor and in line with the lnb arm

3) thats one way of doing it

I am not sure what makes you think you will decode the footy, but maybe you know something we cannot talk about

i tend to do the wall mount and cable first, then assemble the whole dish,motor,lnb ect at ground level then hump the whole thing up the ladder. once on connect up the wires send dish to 1 west with box, put on bbc world 11.862.h then ajust motor left/right untill you find the signal.. if not ajust elevation on dish very slightly then sweep left/right untill you pick up bbc news. if you have no sat meter is is time consuming but if you make very small ajustments, check transponders in h/v and take your time you will be fine and should get a minimum of 30e to 30w but probably 45e to 45w,regards mdt

Right i understand now, so all angles have to be perfect for the motor to function correctly!

So i was to put a level on the vertical shaft where the motor would sit top and bottom would be level

(think i will order a sat meter from ebay, if this will sav me time)

correct except it means plumb , not level, and plumb as in up/down is crucial here , also with the motor and lnb arm in alignment so the dish is focussed where the dish is pointing

nothing will be level , but the motor pole will be vertically plumb

Right ok, worst case if i cant get it working ill try find someone local!

I have ordered a satellite digital finder think it will help me, watched a few videos now on the how to "plumb" the mount so if I can get that bit done that's a step in the right direction
