I've now received all my stuff.

Got the VU+ Solo out of the box installed my internal hard drive and plugged into a spare TV via HDMI and powered on ran through a few of the menus now just trying to get the CCCam .ipx file to install I've copied it to the tmp folder band cant find it on the receiver..

I have also unboxed all of my dish , motor and bracketry and had a little play to see if I could understand and work out how it all goes together.

Below is a few pictures of what I think it needs to go like hopefully some of you can have a look and give me any pointers

          haha

I think im going on the right details now.

Technomate said I need to have the motor

          elevation 36-37

          and my latitude is 52.0487

does the lnb have to be skewd?

no skew when pointing due south

                Dish is now fixed up!

All the cables run through my loft back out on the rear wall and through to behind the tv and terminated into two satellite moudlar sockets mounted into a face plate to keep it all tidy.

All tested and signal is passing correctly.

I have now inputted my details into tuner configuration

                Latitude: 52.0487?
                South
                Longitude: -0.2754?
                West

But the longitiude doesnt have a minus so i just put it in there anyway.

I can move the dish now from the remote, but still cant get any signal from swinging it side to side.

I think im going to need to adjust the elavation on the dish to see where im at and try and get a singal to show up on the reciever, depending how i get on tommorow is wether i call someone out to set this dish up!

Should i be taking thor 0.8w as my 1st and centre satellite?

minus is west , plus is east (of the greenwich meridian)

so 0.275 west of due south, so thor is almost due south of you so near zero on your motor, and yes thats the best place to point the dish if there are no obstructions

Right ok, so that bits right.

So i just need to get the angle of my dish perfect.

Ive got signal meter on my phone via the web control as well as a satellite meter so hopefully i get somewhere tommorow.

I also have CCCam now setup, do i need to install a program list now or will it find them when i do a scan and find the satellites?

I dont bother scanning, my duo has the catseye list he posted recently on it, which you can download onto your box from the server or from the ts panel plugin using one of its servers, or download it and ftp it using dreamboxedit or try dreamset or the vu control centre

in any case you wont get far without the channels already in your box as you wont know when you are on thor unless you use a meter costing hundreds of pounds like a laguna when you have no channel list installed

If using an app on your phone use the Enigma2 signal meter it locks to the ip address of your box and gives both signal and quality readings as well as having an audible tone to boot.
