Vu solo V Max Digital 1000

    Hi

Really happy with Vix on Solo2 that I've just purchased. Vix has made me realize it's time to get rid of my second Openbox S9.

So I'm swayed towards Vu+ Solo, but I've read somewhere that Max Digital is actually better specced machine.

I would like to watch recordings from internal hdd of my Solo2 which I have been told on this forum it's possible. (thats watching recording on one box that has been recorded on another)

I only have 1 feed available for this box although I would still like ability to record to it ( I guess external hard drive is the easiest option, but I would prefer internal HDD if possible).

So what should I get Vu+ solo or Max Digital 1000, either of them running Vix and compatability with solo2.

i have the duo ,solo and max digital 1000 very pleased with it,the duo has the 1tb internal and i am also going to rig up a network drive 2tb to record to.
solo and digital can only use external hdd as box is too small.
better get a second cable for the solo2 to allow for recordings.
they are all on the network which is a great asset.

To answer your question yes the maxdigital 1000 is slightly better specced than the Solo so would be the better buy. All Linux receivers can be used to setup a cifsshare which would allow you to record to your laptop/PC/NAS Drive if required that is if you did not want to use an external powered drive

max digital 1000 does not have a channel display so take that into consideration before deciding what box to buy.

I was very close to buying 1 until I found out that it didn't have a display and at ?150.00 I would expect it to have.

Neither does the Solo, A display is not the be all and end all of everything on a satellite receiver. Whats that old saying " You dont look at the mantelpiece when your poking the fire"

I totally agree with your sentiment. As it so happens this box is for my bedroom and the box is enclosed in cupboard under TV and is controlled by magic eye. So for me it's unimportant. Out of interest, what did you buy instead.

Didn't buy anything, used the money I had saved up to buy the Xmas presents.

So I'm just gonna keep using my SV HD Combo for now.
