    Question regarding Multiswitch

alright been looking at Fracarro Cascade Switch/Multiswitch 12 way SWI8512

This has 5 in and 12 out perfect for what i want.

My question is why does it have 5 in on one side (for quattro lnb, tv etc) and then 5 out?

Does it also function as a multitap so you can add more switches?

Basically does anyone know if this can be used as a stand alone unit?

If so I presume you will need to put terminal connections (to stop leaking) on the other side of the multiswitch.

cauliflower69 what I am about to describe you will have to correct me as we go along !

Quattro LNB as you know has no switches inside it except for one port all the ports connect to the switch as you know via coax cable 4 in and 5 out for your tv sets around the house , you should also have a port left over on your switch for DVB-T antenna on some models, if its not for DVB-T the spare port is for adding another Switch/Multiswitch so you can add more tv sets to it like in a bar or hotel.

I went down this road before with the Quattro LNB (not bad) but I changed it to direct universial LNB inputs as family members wanted to watch different channels on different satellites so now its a case of 3 satellite dishes feeding into series of switches....

Quattro setup is grand for a stationary satallite dish (or motorised if you live alone ) when it comes to a family no joy...
