The reason they are half the price is that they have not been modified to run enigma 2 and is basically just a provider box unable to do anything else unless you can read polish and are really good with a soldering iron. As for it being a starter box, thats also a no go you need some knowledge of enigma 2 and oscam to set it up properly.

hi portbhoy,it seems like you know a bit about these boxes,i had a power-cut last night and now i can't get any picture. sound is there,in info bar there is no resolution scale eg:1080,576,menu's all work etc. it happened once before,i just kept unplugging it from the wall and eventually i got picture back, so far i must have unplugged it about 20 times still no joy. any assistance would be appreciated, bearing in mind i know next to nothing about these boxes. cheers jim

I would try a reflash it might simply have lost or corrupt a tuner driver.

Just ordered one of these, hope I made the right decision! I really wanted a VU+ solo2 but the missus would not allow. I'm hoping this is a good compromise!

anyone who has one of these you can actually run the image from the rear USB socket or better still run it from your hard drive!! Runs as sweet as from the HDD.

Where is the how to.

]This can be done from within the Blue Panel.
1st make a full backup image - takes around 30 minutes and FTP to your computer. Saved out my usb backup and loaded that back up into hdd on SDA1.
Use the Disk Manager (inside Install Manager) to re partition your HDD - WARNING all data on sda (HDD) will be lost.
Make 3 partitions.I made SDA1 is 1gb ext 3, SDA2 is 1gb swap file, SDA3 is rest of drive as ext3.

Mount sda3 as HDD in Mount Center.
FTP your full backup to media/hdd/
From Install Manager choose SDA1 and your full backup then press red to install - this process takes just a few minutes.
Boot from HDD
Boot starts quicker than from USB and it runs stable for me.

Booted into HDD1 and all setup. To configure Crossepg change HDD to the STA file that appears after you have setup the partitions. Then you need to redownload the EPG data from within the Crossepg configure file. Reboot through HDD1 and all set. Oscam worked from the start from backup.

Hi Tom, I was just wondering, what do the different images actually do? whats the difference? I have been pointed in the direction of Enigma2 & came across this box on ebay, funnily its the exact one your describing by the same seller , and noticed he installs it with the 4 different images but unsure what one to actually get if I go for it, be a couple of minths til I get the moeny together though.

I run Nebula Zero v2 which is very stable, there is a new one called Hyperion which is supposed to be good, no idea as mine is very stable and I can recommend that as an image.

yes mgcamd 1.35 works fine but oscam better for recording and watching other

i wouldnt get another nbox 5800sx they are crap you are better off getting a vu+ solo 2 receiver for the sake of a few more quid you can get a vu+ solo2 for about ?139 on ebay i have had nothing but problems with the nbox getting it is my biggest regret look how many problems people are having with them on the forums compared to the vu+
