you cannot be tracking the arc as I know 2 people with motorised 80cm dishes in the nw that get some of those missing sats

you should definitely get

12.5w
8w
5w
39e
42e

so you havent quite got that arc correct, so check your motor elevation is on your latitude and check that dish elevation is also correct, and try setting up on 5w as your exact due south which is about 0.00 on your motor pointer

Thanks for the reply, i think it could be dish offset. i orig setup on 0.8w. Im assuming that as 30w is strong im to high on west side and diping below arch on east side.

line your dish to 1west tern the mount on the pole till you
get a channel use bbc news or another channel with good
signal if your pole is exactly upright you will get all the
other satellites move your dish mount in very small amounts
at a time have elevation agusted after you get a signal

if you set up on 0.8w its unlikely to be due south of you

switch to usals , input your longitude and latitude and select 5w, and check if the motor pointer is near zero

if not you may need to swing the motor slightly left or right (it wont be much of a turn)

alternatively I think you may find that your 28e needs to show as being around 31e to 32e on the motor under usals

Soz ramjet im not understanding what you said with regards to 28e. usals picks up 28e no probs when i sent it there via usals.

ok, what I am saying is, when usals sends it to 28e and you pick this up ok, on the motor itself, check where the actual motor pointer is pointing, as its probably pointing at around 31e

if its pointing around 31e then you are setup correctly so it could be a dish elevation issue, or its a motor elevation issue

but if that motor pointer was pointing at 28e then its setup incorrectly

all this depends if your motor location for usals is setup correctly in your box

so in your satellite box, ensure that your longitude and latitude are correct for your location

so if you are say 3.1w and 53.8n make sure that your box is set to this for usals and not set to 0.00 etc (the default settings)

so check your box, select 28e, then check the motor pointer, before adjusting the dish or motor elevations

Ok thanks for that will get up the ladder tonight and check the motor. I have usals set to the correct long and lat within the receiver used dishpointer sie for this and confirmed with gps app (sat director) on my phone.

Hi. If you are getting 30 west and 28.2 east then in my opinion theres nothing wrong with USALS settings. Your problem is probably to do with azimuth setting ie your dish angles need adjusting. Try to send it one of the sats you dont get ie 42 east and when motor stops if no signal adjust dish angles slightly until you get a signal/picture. Do not adjust motor tail elevation. I have seen this problem many times and by adjusting dish angles problem has been resolved. Also make sure you have correct channel frequencies otherwise you wont find the satellites.

given that you now say your usals location is set correctly on the box and as in the previous post that you get 28e and 30w ok then yes I concur that its not a usals problem so is likely to be the dish elevation, as long as the motor is set to the correct elevation/latitude on its markings

so hopefully a tweak on the dish mount should fix it

Is your mount/bracket 100% plumb
If it is not you will not follow the arc

got half way through setting up from scratch. Basically I've started a fresh and going to setup sats up manually again rather than using usals, even reset the motor to clear anything that coudl have become duff. . Was on roof last night (feking cold! i can tell yer) and setup the offest and dish to 0.8w again with a strong transponder...once I nailed that and got it as string a possible on the meter and box readings I started fine stepping the arch on west side and am now picking up everything to 30w including the ones I was missing (5w,8w,12.5w etc) that i mentioned yesterday. I got started on eastern side but it was 2 am by the time i got to 33.0e so will finish the rest off tonight or at least try to get the remaining culprits (ie 39 and 42). These two I really want tbh.... I will let you know how I fair Saturday on these last two. Thanks for your ongoing replys and ideas its much appreciated folks.

Will fine step from 33 to 39 and 42 etc to see if i can get anything at first....

You will have to take my word for it but its is bang on checked with several levels several times.

If it is bang on you should have no problems,
It is the most common mistake people make,
It has only got to be a ants cock out and it will miss.
