Temp Setup - 2 receivers, 1 LNB, 1 active feed

Hi. Just want to temporarily set up a 2nd receiver without adding a new lnb, or changing mine to a dual output model. Is this possible via some sort of diseqc switch? I only require one feed to be active, so I guess I don't require a dual lnb? I have:

Dreambox 500
Technomate HH100 Motor
Single output LNB

And I want to add a 2nd coaxial cable with a 2nd receiver.

you could loopthrough from the master box to a slave box, and put the master on standby when using the slave

or you can buy an a-b switch and physically switch it from input a to input b with the common going to the lnb

if you only have one box switched on at a time you can also use a sat splitter with dc pass.that gives full motor control to either box.I"v used one without probs for some time to supply a box in my shed or one in my bedroom.(I know some dont like this system but it works)

agreed, but you know what you are doing and I would never assume other members here are as conversant as myself or yourself, so safety is worth bearing in mind because most people would ffff it up one way or another ,

(or their partners or kids would switch both on at the same time !!)

it would be located near the main receiver, with a short feed cable into the master and the secondary feed cable from the slave and the common cable off to the dish

I already said its a physical (manual) switch, so your fingers do the work

Hmmm, may need to rewire slightly. The problem is the main permanent receiver is downstairs in a north facing room, so the cable goes out to the front and all the way around the house to the motor. The other temp receiver is actually In an upstairs south facing room, with the dish just outside.

So I can grab that long running cable by the dish and redirect to the upstairs room to the switch. Then just have 2 short cables, one to the other receiver and the other back outside and to the dish.

so the long cable goes from the downstairs receiver to the upstairs bedroom to input A for example, input B goes to the secondary bedroom receiver on a short cable, and the common cable goes out to the motor and dish. the switch will either send the common to the downstairs or upstairs according to the a-b switch
