motor changing from green to amber when moved

Hi guys i seem to have a problem with my motorised dish

suddenly whilst installing a new image i lost all channels?
when i checked for power on the motor the green light was not present i changed power supply but still no good.

I then changed the dm800 which was connected to the motor' with a working dm500.
The dm800 powered up and worked on the static dish perfect

So then i plugged my dm500 into the motorized feed' the power on the motor was healthy again .
when i swapped the dm800 back again the light on the motor came on' great i thought 'so i tried to move it with the buttons but the green light flickered to amber constantly when holding my finger on it and it would not move
    any ideas chaps

Hi. Was it working ok on DM500?? If so then problem lies with DM800 i would have thought. Check if you have limits set on DM800. From my experiences with TM2600 motors an amber light can mean one of the following:
    1) Unable to accept DISECQ/USALS commands.
    2) Faulty motor sensor.
    3) Limits set stopping motor from moving.

Like i said if motor working ok on DM500 then there is a problem with DM800.

    Regards.

sounds like either a power supply problem with your clones, have you not got another Official receiver you can try on there something that is not a clone

It could also be a component in the box itself, the box receives X amount of watts needed from power supply then box has to convert and transfer at leat 500ma down cable for the Motor and LNB.

Motor needs at least 350ma to work correctly, have you got a meter to check voltage on back of both your 500 and 800

Thats definitely the way to go get an official reciver on it so you can rule out the power shortage

Hi. If its doing the same thing to 3 boxes then yes it must be the motor. I dont know what motor your model is but you could always try to open it and see if you can tamper it back to life. I have opened up a couple of motors before and got them working again . I suspect your problem is motor sensor has gone. If you are going to buy a new motor make sure its compatible with your boxes . I would recommend a TM2600 as i think they are brillliant - very accurate and easy to setup. But check if ok with your DM's as i have never tested one on a DM so cannot advise.

                      Good luck
