    Stream Dreambox to Dreambox

    Hi Guys

Got my Dm800se clone working almost perfectly and really happy with it.

Becuase there is no RF output on this box I'm looking for a way to pass the signal to my bedroom tv so I can watch stuff off the dreambox (like sly eye). I live alone so I don't need it to be able to watch different channels. (I don't want to run more sat cables)

I was considering buying another DM800se box and finding someway of connecting them or streaming the signal from one box to another, is this possible? I've found posts about streaming to VLC media player - but ideally I want to stream to something that I can connect to my tv.

    Thanks a lot

I suggest you get a mod to move this to the dreambox section

you can send an rf signal from your dm to the bedroom using an old vcr via scart and sending on its rf video channel, or buy an rf modulator from ebay and connect using scart or phono instead, setting its rf channel on any suitable channel between rf 21 and rf 69 depending on your freeview channels from your local transmitter

if you were to buy another linux box for the bedroom there would be no need for any streaming as each box can be used independently like mine are but then you need another sat cable feed

however, I think you can link them up to use each others hdd if you so wished, or hook up a nas on your network instead

you can also use dreamstream to stream from the dm to your laptop in the bedroom too

      Cheers RamJet

I'll look into the RF options via Scart - think this might be my best option

just install partnerbox ( local extensions)
this will allow you to stream all your channels to another dreambox /vu+ box without having to supply another satellite feed

        hope it helps

          ...even better reaper101

I'm still a bit of a DM newbie, but I'll give it a crack

          Thanks again

Have you considered just using a digi sender?
This one gives a good picture and you can use your remote upstairs.
Could save you some time and money. (I have used one for years.)

Hmmm interesting - so I'm guessing these will connect via Scart connections?

It would be good if I could get an HD picture and I found this - Wireless HDMI Video Sender Kit : Wireless Video Senders : Maplin Electronics

Being a bit thick here and wondering how this will connect. I'm assuming Dreambox gets connected to the sender with HDMI - then this gets passed through to another HDMI connected to TV in living room. Then I attach receiver to TV upstairs via HDMI and it sends signal wirelessly?

looking at the pdf manual from that site it doesnt appear to have hdmi passthrough, meaning if you use this to send to the remote location you cannot use hdmi to the tv near the dreambox as you only get one hdmi output, so you would have to use scart instead to the tv near the dm800

most senders use scart or phono connections from the host equipment in which case its hdmi to the nearest tv and scart or phono to the sender and the remote tv is usually tuned in on an analogue channel

its also more money then using a dm800 and partnerbox too

I agree RamJet (thanks for the input)

I think the plan is still to buy a twin tuner box and then stick the DM800se up to my bedroom.

Anyone got any experience of Partnerbox streaming HD content?

Think I've found the answer - "Yes partnerbox gives all audio options same as from main box and it also receives HD channels perfectly eg.duo-solo"

Thought partnerbox was pretty much obsolete these days.

                      Remotestreamconvert is the better alternative.

Anybody tried a raspberry pi loading the web interface, could possibly be a cheap option ?

Ahhh I have a Raspberry Pi sitting unused in my kitchen (ordered it with great intentions and when it finally arrived I couldn't find a decent use for it)

If I connected it to the web interface then surely I would only be able to watch recordings rather than stream live? (please excuse me if I'm being noobie about this)
