STB multiroom help on how to

Hi was wondering if anybody can give me a newbie guide on how to watch and use my motorised set up in my
    My set up downstairs
Is tecnomate 5402 Hd plugged in to router for the unmentionable
Also plugged in to my av reciever via hdmi and obviously coax cable I belive to control motorised dish outside

    My set up upstairs
Samsung a TV (aireal socket back of TV broken)
Youview box (has aireal in and output)
You view box connected to power line adaptor via LAN cable from you view box then conceded via hdmi to back of TV

I am wanting to be able to change the channel upstairs while watching something different downstairs as well as have all the services I get downstairs up

    Can anyone help?
Please state links if possible to the equipment I need thanks in advance

your tm5402 has an rf channel and this can be sent over coax to the "other room" , plugged in using the aerial input and the tv tuned in using analogue tuning, this allows the remote tv to view the single channel selected on the tm5402

you cannot watch one channel in one room and another in a different room from your tm5402 as its a single tuner, so both rooms get the same channel only. the only way to watch a different channel is use freeview or youview or some other alternative to the tm5402

there are threads on here discussing how to operate a box remotely using the "sly magic eye" so you need to search out those threads too, as several types of equipment exist that allow you to do this

video senders are another option to view the tm5402 channel in another room, but again you can only receive the same channel in both rooms from the tm5402 as its a single tuner box

your existing equipment cannot allow 2 different channels to be viewed at the same time, and the unmentionable is probably restricted to 1 box at a time too

but you could add a second stb in the other room, separately cabled from the lnb on the dish, add a lan feed from the router to this second box, and use one box or the other, or get another "unmentionable"

And if I can not view two diffrent channels at the same time then am I able to watch and change channel upstairs if I am not watching anything down?
So if I understand correctly I would need to get another unmentionable from my server
Regarding connecting a LAN feed from another stb to my router downstairs that would be some long cable that I need wouldn't useing a power line adaptor like the you view be best for this?
Aslo have noticed a loop output on my main reciver downstairs couldn't I just connect a coax from the loop output to control nu dish on the second stb

not allowed to discuss your first question

you can use homeplugs or the tenda wifi adapter to connect the second stb to your router, or use a long ethernet cable instead

the loop out can be used to feed a second stb but the channels able to be viewed on the second stb would be severely restricted unless the tm5402 was placed on standby

so for separate viewing you really need each box to have its own everything (own feed from the dish , own router connection, own anything else )

multiroom is basically 2 or more separate setups

Great so if I decide to go down the cheapest option of going down the loop route to be able to change channel upstairs main box needs to be on standby to get everything I do downstairs
Abs the equipment needed for this option
              Are coax cable
And coax ends what are these called could you provide eBay item number or link to equipment needed please?
O and this way would I need to sort the snapped airiel in the bank of TV out or could I plug in to youview aireal in socket? Would this work?
Secondly I I purchased a second stb what would you recommended as a may as well upgrade the downstairs and put the tecnomate up up
I would also need what equipment for this route also provide links if possible
              Coak cable
              Cable ends
Tenda wifi adaptor or power adaptor
              Stb
Thanks this is turning in to a nice weekend project

I cannot possibly comment on what suits your needs as it all depends on the house walls , location , lnb type and other parameters too, there is no "one size fits all" scenario, you have a lot of requirements there and need to look at addressing each one in turn

sat coaxial cable connectors are called F connectors, and you need satellite grade coaxial cable not tv coax

I have no experience of youview or tenda wifi or homeplugs so wont comment on any of those, but the info I gave is correct

remote operation of an stb is usually by the magic eyes as I said earlier, and these also need power and IR blasters , so each aspect is a conversation in itself. these magic eyes and blasters have been extensively discussed on here several times before

you need to decide what you want to do first, then decide how much it costs to do as you wish and even then you need to install everything and make it all work

I may give you the names or types of equipment you need, however you can do the research and costings etc

                regards

Good point think I might wait for the prism cube to be realised then thinking bout doing the multiroom with two separate stbs when that's released
So for now guess its getting the sat coak cable and f connectors
And the magic eye and going down that route for the time being think that would make more sense on with the priceing and the reaserch thanks
