I am new to this as well, but the way I understand it Satellite keys are a series of codes that carry some information about a particular satellite or a channel of this satellite. You need to have the correct receiver to be able to programme these codes. These codes will allow you to watch a particular Sat programme without having to buy a subscription. It seems that these are very popular in Europe.Currently I am seeking info on all these issues myself. Thanks and a nice weekend to all
        Cheers

check the BISS keys thread and download the file, open it in notepad and you will see the keys and the transponders and other details

do the same for a softcam as used on the dreamboxes, open in notepad and again you will see caids, keys and other details

using a patched receiver normally allows you to use these keys (codes) top open the relevant channels seen in those files, or the packages listed with softcams

a typical one is the bulsat channels in irdeto on 39e

Then you will need a Softcam pack such as Minicats (Google) which you then FTP over to your box which go in the /var/keys folder.

You can find loads of help and guides for the 500s in the Enigma1 section which can be found here: ENIGMA1 Chat
