    Motorised dish installation

    Hey guys,

I currently have a skybox f3 running off my skydish, iam looking at getting a motorised setup which if i buy all the bits roughly comes to ?130 with the wall mount. I have had a quote to install which was about ?150 - ?180. Is this about right?

There is a guy near mine who is advertising on ebay a 100cm motorised setup all installed for ?195 but I am unsure of what make the parts are, I am still waiting on a reply from him.

I can only assume the guy on ebay is using cheap parts.

First off what are the parts you bought for ?130, The install price could be correct for your area where abouts are you to get some idea.

Here is the link Motorised satellite dishes from Satellite Superstore UK. Heavy duty motorised satellite dishes. Diseqv and 36 volt motors. Big Discounts

It is the 1m icecrypt dish for about ?104 plus I need the wall mount for south facing wall. I think I will also need cable.

I am in Wallsend tyne and wear.

Ok mate just so you know the Sat superstore have a reputation of not being cheap, if you sourced the components separately and locally if possible you can get a far higher specced dish and LNB to start with the Diseqc motor is OK.

As for the installation maybe call a few other local installers and see what the average price would be. But for ?180 that should include at least quality CAI/RDI approved cable and most of the day for the installation/Fine Tuning/Box setup to make sure you are getting what you should be getting.

What brands would you recommend for the dish and lnb? Would technomate be the way forward.

I have seen a few systems on ebay for about ?120 technomate.

Also I have been told to get a 0.1 lnb is this true?

          Thanks for all your help.

Forget about the 0.1db figures quoted for LNB performance to get that type of level you would need some form of supercooling blowing on the LNB 24/7.

Dish you should be looking at either an Orbital 1m or Triax TD110 around the same price and very little difference performance wise. LNB you should be looking at the Inverto Black Ultra.

The Motor TM2600 is fine no problem at all.

Where would be the best place to get these from?

As i said if you could source local from a trade store nearby if you have one or even an independent satellite store or similar, this would reduce cost buying all 3 from an online store.

if the installer not suppling the box tell him its an F3 or any-other box, it will help him to know for sure of that before he arrives, if he,s suppling then its his job to setup the box as well, if your F3 just got one satellite installed you will after get the others installed somehow if thats the box you are going to use, good luck

there are plenty of online retailers with next day delivery if ordered before 2pm. @satsuperstore are very expensive although they do stock some quality gear, regards mdt

Forget that one order separate from the same store and it is still fee delivery :

LNB Black Ultra: Inverto Black Ultra Single LNB

Orbital 1m dish: Orbital 100cm Satellite Dish

Diseqc motor Dark Motor: Alsat Dark Superior DiSEqC Motor

The LNB and motor is better specced than the dish pack from the same shop and it works out at just under ?115 bargain

Ian at Red apple is quite helpful as well
