    Problem with motorised dish

Hi all, Got a huge problem if anyone can throw some light onto this please.

My motorised dish has gone to its end, stops and will not come back regardless of what I do (go to home position, move motor, ...). It is now pointing well East at a strange angle (like downeards) and I can receive nothing.

Has anybody had a similar problem or know what I can do to fix it (short of a big hammer).

    Thanks

If your using usals im guessing it will still move when you select a channel but it has to be on the correct arc to hit the sat you want to watch.
What box is it on and how are you adding the long and lat?
I did post something in another thread earlier after you mentioned your problem.

    Andy.

if it's a dark motor a lot reported that happening
also have you tried to zero the motor with the buttons
      under it.

        Hi Andy,

Thanks for your reply. I am using a vu+ solo 2, it wants to moves and when it tries to move it moves about and inch or two then stops and will not go any further. I have also tried another box but the same happens. I added the long and lat on tuner setup

Are you 100% certain lat and long are first correct and have decimal point in the correct place?

Found this courtesy of Dick B from another thread it might help you.

cheap sat meter wont tell you what sat you are on.as your box has a satfinder menu use that. if using USALS make sure your correct long/lat are in the box and the same lat is set on motor. send the dish to 1West then put 11.682 H 28000 in your sat finder menu with 1West as the satellite.then starting off with the whole motor/dish assembly pointing roughly south and the dish elevation around 22 search for a signal by moving the whole lot L/R and the dish elevation only up/down til you find the signal. sweep slowly left/right then move the dish up a bit at a time if unsuccessful move it down a bit at a time and you will get it in the end.if you would rather use 28.2 East as your target its just as good but start off pointing in the same direction as sky dishes and make sure an active TP is set.
ps dont forget to scan after you have found your target sat.
