    Newbie questions

    hi i'm a newbie please excuse my lack of knowledge, I am considering buying a technomate 5400 and motorised dish, basically I want to watch premiership football and a good mix of quality programs, problem is I dont know whats out there, what satelites can expect to receive and what sort of programs on a patched box, i'm told i need a 80cm dish (from cheshire for thor 3/5? apparently good for football?) could I use a mesh or clear hi-gain dish, whats the quietest motor i heard one on youtube that sounded dreadful,and finally can anyone recommend a installation tutorial for a complete beginner preferably in video form any advice would be appreciated

      you wont open a lot with a technomate box these day most packages have gone to nagra3 which cant be opened via a patched reciver.I think the only one open is digitv on 1west but thats changeing encryption soon.You need to look at a lynux based box and cardsharing which can not be discused here (google it).
      As for a motor the darkmotor has metal gears and is not to noisey a solid dish is always the best option, a 80cm will be ok in cheshire as in life the bigger the better
      thor has got a lot of football on it so has 19e, 7e,13e

          hi firestorm what system/ satelite would you recommend for football and mixed programs.
          would a unoffical card gain access to a good choice of prem. football programs on the t.m 5400 plus do you think nagra 3 will be compromised any time soon many thanks for you assistance

              hi we all hope nagra 3 will be cracked we have had a few flase hope but nothing yet,
              The technomate are great boxes and i have great fun with my old 1500 but even the technomate die hards are now getting dreamboxs as there not opening mutch at the moment
              It depends on your budget but the 500s are a good starting piont as dreamboxs have a steep learning curve and some are very expensive ie the 8000hd are are around ?900 were you can pick up a 500s(clone) for ?80
              An unofical card such as a gamma card have been good value for opening nova but they dont show a lot of epl
              and can stop working tommorow

                  Cheers firestorm I had read a little about channels disappearing on the technomate but i wasnt sure being new to satellites,you've effectively saved me the best part of 300 pounds rasies (a to firestorm ya) Thanks again
