    Roof Line

Nearly ready to go for a motorised system. Just trying to work out where to put dish. I live in a row of four houses me being one of the middle 2. Front of house faces west near as dammit. So Line of houses face South. So I think I am gonna put dish at back of house. If I attach below guttering with 18" brackets, is there a rule of thumb or something to find length of pole to miss peak of roof?

not really m8 trial and error......just get a nice long pole and use T&K brackets, make sure you have a nice big gap between the brackets so it's more sturdy

i have a massively high roof and get most satellites from 55w to 39e...cant get past 39e due to my roofline, i'll upload a picture of mine when i fininsh work to show you how mine looks m8

I'm in the same boat as you m8.
I've been reading up on this for a while now as my house faces dead south, but I don't want a big dish on the front wall. Mine is going round the back so will need to be able to "see" over the roof.

Have a look here. Put in your postcode and drag the red pushpin to your house. You can the locate all the sats from the drop down box. It will draw a red line in the direction of the sat and give you its angle of elevation.

To work out the angle from your dish to the roofline have a look here.
You may need to nip in the loft to measure the hight of the ridge from the loft floor/gutter height, and from the gutter to the middle of the loft/ridge position.

I'm in the process of making my stand off brackets

Most sats of interest are east of south so deffo put it on the back of your house.

      Hope this helps m8
