Newbie Question about motor dish size

Hi! I am saving up for a dreambox and a motorised dish and was just wondering if anyone knows what the law is on dishes as I am unsure wether or not i'll need permission from the council to put one up.I think I read somewhere that you are allowed up to 90cm without needing permission but I am not sure.Me mam is not to keen to have a dish on the house either and I was wondering if there are any other options?I seen a dish that was really expensive that wasnt really a dish shapewise,it was a square thing that sat in the garden but I was wondering how this worked cos I thought a dish had to be high up for a clear line of site?I also read somewhere that if you wanna pick up the most sats a 1m dish would be better than a 90cm for motorised.I am a bit confused as to what to do without spending a whole lot as this will be my first system(which i'm really excited about!)Any info, links etc. would help me out alot.regards Allycuk.

all local councils differ m8 but no council allow dishes to the front of your property if you have a shed to the rear of your prop it would be fine just phone ask for guidelines

cheers mate! I got a big shed out the back garden,I would be able to put any size dish on the shed then?front of my property faces south though and the shed is in the back garden.I am not sure how high the dish has to be for a clear line of sight.I may need to get in touch with a sat installer coz I don't know if i will be able to install it myself!

        Hi M8,
The law changed a while back 1mtr dish is the max without permission as long as it does not go above the height of the chimney stack. You can have two dish's a 1mtr and a 80cm on any one property. check out the govs website for more info of sat dish installations or google it. I check this out myself a few months back before i put my dish up, 1mtr.
        Keep calm carry on.
