I got a Openbox S11HD box free a few month ago off a friend

I'm now looking to get a new one
What box do you all recommend?

Whats the best box for say low/med/high budget buyer?

m8 if u just watch tv low budget then Openbox if u want more then high budget vu+ dreamboxs

And why are these higher budget boxes so good?
What can you do with them?
And what price are they around?

Open source Enigma 2 receievers like dreambox, vu+, gigablue, xtrend.......... give you more options in terms of plugins, images, etc. you can stream movies on demand, bbc iplayer, itv player, 4 on demand, and loads more.
Gigablue se/ue are around ?150 and dreambox clones slightly more than that, bought from china. Vu+ duo is a twin tuner for around ?250 but is knocking on a bit.
Then above that the Vu+ solo2 at around ?300 is also a twin tuner, but also has transcoding on the fly, gigabit lan and a 1300 mhz processor.

Are you able to record on any of these boxes?

Yep all enigma 2 boxes can record and so can almost all closed source boxes the differences are you can only record what you are watching or what is on the same transponder on single tuner boxes. On twin tuner boxes you can record one thing while watching anything else or you can watch one thing while streaming the second tuner to another device. Most twin tuners can accommodate internal hdd while single tuners usually have an external hdd attached by usb.
