    General questions.

Okay folks, bear with me if you will. I've been a member for a couple of weeks or so (mostly active in the Garage section) and just started looking round the satellite section. I've got a Sky set up at the moment (single box ?20 per month package no Sky+), and wifey asked if it would be possible to have Sky or Freesat in all the bedrooms. We currently have Freeview in all the rooms upstairs (fed through an aerial with booster / splitter unit) and she thought I'd just buy Freesat boxes and replace them....

Anyway, I told her it wouldn't be that simple, and started thinking about what would be a good option.

So, is there a beginners guide to this section, is there a preferred upgrade path to get free satellite programs, or is there anything to avoid, or should I just ask loads of questions and you tell me what's going to be best?

    Cheers.

you can do a number of things mate..

    1. Replace the LNB on your dish with a quad LNB, this allows you to run 4 boxes off one dish.. although you will only be able view encrypted channels on the box with the card, the rest will be 'Freesat' channels only..

    2. If you only want to watch TV in one room at a time then try this but it just reproduces what is on the main box in each room.. you can change the channel in any room but it changes the channel on all TV's

    3. If you have freeview capability in each room then just get freeview boxes, they are dirt cheap (?12) and will give you a good range of channels

Have a look here for more info on option 1

also read this from another post on different thread, thanks to the OP

This will the give you all the options you want.

    Hope this helps you.

Yeah, we already have Freeview boxes in all the rooms upstairs. Had them for a year or so. The Maplin kit with Sky eye isn't going to be any use. It'd end up with a click war on the remotes for who's going to watch what. The system needs to be independent to all the rooms, so that takes us back to option 1.

That's the way I was wanting to go, but what are the options with actual content? Am I limited to Freesat programs on all the uncarded boxes, or is there any way of getting anything over and above the Freesat stuff by going with different hardware? Not bothered about movie channels and stuff like that but a wider range of sports would be a bonus.

In that case your only option is sky multiroom

Well, that's not gonna happen then. I'm fed up of paying Sky every month anyway, so I'm not going to pay more to have more of the same. Looks like I'll be staying as we are.

All of em? Im sure there as matches as times which are only being broadcasted by showtime! You dont receive that do you? But with cardsharing you do get about 350 of 360

They sometimes are listed by people on this site, on 7E and 10E but are encrypted. I have often wondered how they know what is being shown on the transponder if they are scrambled??
