    vu solo or sh6000hd

Been saving up and think I might be able to get one of the above boxes this weekend but which to get

Seen vu solo's going for about ?120ish with postage on ebay but I know I can get a skybox s6000hd for ?80 money is dam tight atm and the s6000hd being a clone is dam dam tempting but with all the cooling problems etc etc is it worth going for the solo instead (clone afaik)

Want to run latest version of vix as that seams the one my other half is going to be able to use as ment to look the most like a slybox to use, she struggles with the F3 ! (I know I know)

I want it for catch up tv and steaming from pc etc etc (f3 and appletv will then go into bedroom)

So which to get ? cheap and risky or more and clone ? argghhh I cant make my mind up

Any help to make me mind up will be most welcomed

This the sort of vu I was going to look at VU+ SOLO HD LINUX ENIGMA 2 VIX 3.0 IMAGE LATEST BUILD INSTALLED | eBay

Personally I would go an extra ?16 and get a TM -Nano which is original runs the same chipset as the Duo so Dual core and you get 12 months warranty and can flash any image safely without the worry of looking at Kernel patches or images with older drivers in them.

But as you say Money is tight so out of the 2 i would go for the Solo as it has better cooling potential than the S6000, Although recent reports suggest that it now comes with a fan so thats a bonus.

No Problem i just want to explain why say the Nano well first off its not because i am a TM fanboy as i have quite a few different receivers including clones so the reason is probably because this got released to combat the price range where the DM800se clone is priced at and when you weigh up the differences including the Nano is faster and has more memory and Nandflash as well as its original with a warranty. If the Solo Clone had been about ?50 then i would have steered you towards that but the price margin between clone and original is now nominal so people who have a budget of around ?120 then they should look carefully at originals if they can get one in that price bracket.

Yes it is open source Enigma2 i have the 4D image on a TM-Twin which is basically OpenPLI 3.0 and it runs everything, I might get my head bitten off by saying this but all of the OE-Alliance images are Core based on OpenPLI its just that most of the teams write or re-write different aspects of it, So even with OpenPLI you can run everything that runs on any of the OE images apart from the look of each image which will be slightly different.

Take digi's advice, simply no need to buy dodgy old clones anymore. There is also the gigablue 800 se which you might get for around ?140 if you shop around. They run vix but from what I've heard have a painfully slow boot time. Tm nano looks like a great little receiver though.
