Its basically the same as the Vu Solo2 but has has some slight differences the Quad has Colour screen like DM800se etc... it also has 2 extra Plug and Play Tuners slots so you can have either 2 more sat feeds making it 4 or a DVB-T/C feed mixed with the sat feeds.

The only slight flaw for me was it does not run Blackhole images and the Ethernet is only 10/100 where as on the Solo2 its Gigabit so great for transferring Movies over and other files in seconds instead of minutes.

But to be honest if i was to buy again i would give this some serious thought it has backing from the OE alliance so Vix,OpenAAF, Team Red, Open PLI etc...

I think a lot of the UK e-Tailers are doing it for around ?269 as well have a look on World of sat, Red Apple Digital etc...

      Cheers for all that fella!

yeah the Ethernet being that speed is of a concern but to be honest i dont stream anything to my 800 so i wouldnt with this. purely just for watching channels.
all films on my HDD are streamed via PC's or when i eventually get my smart TV that.

i take it this box is worth a consideration. the thing that really stood out to me was the price for the option of it being a quad tuner. (would certainly solve arguments between myself and the ball and chain)

It would be good to hear from someone who has the above box, purely just to see what the performance is like etc etc.

Once again, cheers for that write up digi.

No Problem i have seen one in action and channel change and boot up time etc... seem to be on par with my Solo2 so no concerns there, For the price if i knew what i know now i may have plumped for one myself due to the fact it has the extra Plug & Play slots. At the time they had real problems with the drivers on this and the Solo2 was due for release so thats what put me off. Its all fixed now though and for the same ?309 as a Solo2 you could have a Quad Tuner price the tuner boards very cheap

          I see!

I think i may be sold on this then! may have to take the plunge and give it a go.
My problem is that i love my Dreambox, yet their DM8000 is an extortionate price. and this box is a fraction of that

one other thing (im gonna hijack my own thread)

have you seen the satellite swan neck mounts? just wondering if they would be secure enough for my motor and dish to bolt onto? as i need to get the dish above the guttering.
seen a few on the bay but the pole looks a bit thin? maybe just my eyes

what you need is a set of t&k brackets that come out from the wall enough to allow you to have a pole to go above the gutter and i would suggest you put 3 brackets up for extra strength the dish is subject to much more wind above the gutter

As suggested by Blueflash234 you will require T&K's to clear the gutter and a Minimum pole diameter of 2" A scaffold pole is ideal and preferable for an over the gutter installation

Forget the Swan Neck it is highly inadequate for the job and is only steel based one and a quarter inch thick

I was considering a GB Quad myself, but went for the solo2 instead.
Mainly because of the transcoding and gigabit lan features and I don't really have use for more than 2 tuners.
But looks a cracking box for the price.

I bought one approx. 4 months ago great box sets up more or less the same as the Dream box I have all four sat tuners installed have had no problems and no regrets was originally recommend by Digicon. Great picture works like a dream.

mine cost I think about ?334 from hm-sat with 4 sat tuners 500GB hard drive and standard remote plus the new keyboard remote.
