best box to buy for ?60

    Hi all.

I'm just trying to find out from any recommendations a cheap box to buy for ?60 maybe a little more but not to much.

I have a friend who is on a tight budget and does not want to spend anymore then this.

He's currently has a skybox f3 which slightly faulty just keeps booting randomly quite often and wants a change from this due to this problem. Tried fixing it but just no joy.

All advise would be very helpful. Also would to be able to use tp_prog.dbs files from skyboxes. I know the openbox x5 uses a complete different software so is probs out there question.

But any help will very grateful.

    Thank you.

Dont bother they have massive over heating issues at present just have a look at the last few pages of the S6000 thread for ?90 you can get a Vu Solo Clone with no overheating issues and should work on any image no problem

Be advised as with buying any Clone you run the Risk of getting a Bad one, if you have a motorised dish the ramjet's suggestion of the Spiderbox 6000 is even better.

          Regards

My Question is are they a Newbie box / Middle of the road to setup / or year's of experience job

all spiderboxes are easy to setup and use with thousands of users, usb updating of firmware and channel lists and softcams using a usb memory stick and ideal for beginners as plenty of info on them in various forums and sites on the net

red @pple and goldw@fers are 2 good retailers too

                Hi ramjet

So i guess they are the same as the F3 to setup

but the quality of the build is a lot better

                I was looking at the

                Spiderbox 6000
                DM500-s
                Technomate TM600

As a starter box which would you advise or a better one in your opinion.....

I'm clued up on how the F3 works & what to do with it........

Just would like to move on from the F3 but don't know which way to turn.......I'm willing to learn & a loter..loter..reading i sound like Cilla Black

Thx in advance for any help

never had or seen or used an openbox/skybox and dont want one either

sorted out various spiderboxes and still use them myself daily even after over 3 years of use, so I have no doubt on their merits

dm500-s havent been made by DMM for many years , arent HD and are clones, so again wouldnt touch one at all (if it isnt HD its not worth having)

tm600 was a rebadged dm500 in essence so same applies , old hat, not HD and no longer supported either (unlike a spider)

if you really want linux buy an HD vu box , if you want simple like the skybox then spiderbox is better, or pay more for a blade bm7000s HD or a tm5402 HD

in any case, have a read of this http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-setup-301108/

No too sure on this and i am positive Ramjet will know but from what i can tell the new Spiderbox 6000 is a breakaway from darkman and alsat so to speak so does not follow on from the earlier 7000,9000,9900 range.

What i do know is it can be patched with firmware that if you own a Motorised system will well open certain things on other satellites for free and i am not talking about the softcam either

                      Have a look here: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...6000hd-335884/

not owned a 6000 HD but it seems to have developed from the 5000 as it uses the same softcam I believe
most users seem happy with it, and boxer has been making regular firmware updates to improve matters and he used to produce the other patches too so I value his experience and for the cost of less than ?100 it seems a bargain for a multi sat setup and I think can take about 8 (aquatic animal) lines too, never mind that patched tie in with a you know what as well

I would rather have one than any so called skybox or openbox offering, although I bought a vu duo which has far more potential, as does the solo2 and duo2

I Agree they are well made and have always had a good write up even for normal satellite use but i think we all know that these sell well when you can patch them with IKS
