    Plug & play needed

Hi im looking to buy a new box but i need it to be pretty much plug and play, as i don't really know how to set them up myself. I already have a 1 metre motorised dish set up.

I had a protek 9600ip before, and it was great, as i just bought it and it pretty much set itself up but they turned the server off last year.

I'm looking for something similar, that gives me subscriptions to the channels as part of the package (free gift or whatever they call it)

There seems to be so many boxes out there right now but im not sure if any of them offer this kind of service anymore, especially in terms of reliability? As the protek worked for 3-4 years before they turned off the servers.

    Any suggestions please?

dont think you will find anything that is plug and play apart from the sly boxes as sly do it all for you

everything else needs some input from the owner, channel lists, softcams , patches and other additions too

          Thanks

So nothing really comes with a free package of unscrambled channels anymore then?

What are they like in terms of reliability now mate?

I don't want to buy one and then they switch it off half way through the year. Obviously i understand this is the situation with most boxes but im a little more wary now since they turned off the protek 9600ip server last year.

channels depend on what satellites you can pick up
the box is patched by yourself and files added to do whatever is required
all these boxes will pick up free channels from the satellite that the dish is pointed at
other channels which are not fta are subject to various provisos, but all will suffer a switch off at some point in time

there are no guarantees with any of them

You should be looking at a time span of something similar to your previous protek but as ramjet stated nothing is Guaranteed the same with the Spiderbox 6000HD

I can pick up most of the sats here 13.0, 28.2, 19.2, thor, 16.0 etc etc

I know we cant talk about certain things on here but my main issue is clearing certain channels/packages with the receiver i buy.

I know nothing is guaranteed, does the spiderbox come with packages like the protek?

Also can you point me in the direction of a reputable retailer for these boxes please?

                      Thanks

I cant speak for the Spiderbox 6000HD as i have not seen one in action but with a price tag of around ?89 and once patched with IKS should give you most of the channels you want on those satellites you mentioned apart from 28.2? east, I have seen the Protek HD in action the base model and this worked as advertised and i believe again the IKS patch opens a few more packages on more satellites than what the Spiderbox does

If mdt happens to appear online i am sure he will give you the lowdown on the Proteks

the protek boxs have excellent support from the dark forces and they have no time limit. you can get packages on 23.5e/19.2e/16e/13e/7e and 30 west. there areound 25 packages. as gift boxs go the protek wipes the floor with all of them, regards mdt

as for the spiderbox patch, if you google the search word vasik then you should find that their forum may have an up to date list of IKS packages, but for obvious reasons you wont get a detailed list of the packages that any box opens, but you normally find the packages opened are on the most popular satellites but not 28 east, so some of the satellites and packages alluded to in the mdt post

by its very nature, the subject is secretive, and yet you are asking for black and white full and frank details of hush hush topics ( a paradox )
you seem to want or expect some sort of guarantee that what you achieve wont "go off" (not possible as it could fail 5 minutes after the box arrives)
and you also want plug and play with minimal input by the owner (again not possible although some boxes are fairly easy to administer)

few of these boxes come with these extras, and I can only think of about 3, protek, spider and black panther, all require patching and regular updates
