    snr &agc

    hello hope somone can help before the sat guys come,i have a dish up and the snr is around 70 to 80 guessing this is ok.the agc is around 18 or 19 whitch im guessing isnt from what ive read.should be more like 70 or 80 even 90.ive lost film four and a few others on 28.2e.19.2e is fine but agc is still around the same.13e i get a few channels trying to tune in sometimes there fine other times blocky.ber is fine and on zero.its a dreambox 800se running openpli.the sat is 80cm on a triax thingy me bob.cheers.should i stand my ground before paying and tell them i want it sorting cos i think there try and take the pi$$.reason for them coming again is second box so multi lnb.im in the uk by the way.

    No need to worry about the AGC which is the Automatic Gain Control and your receiver regulates this as to not swamp the tuner. The one to concentrate on is the Signal to Noise Ratio which relates to the Picture quality.

    From what you are saying and i have seen this on other receivers sometimes its a driver problem which will not display the correct AGC percentage of the current satellite transponder's.

    The loss of channels could also be to the day to day changes that $ly appear to be doing on a daily basis which an up to date channel list could solve, worse case scenario is your dish has gone out of alignment and will need re-doing.

      thanks for that my channel list is up tp date,ive used dreamset to update them and tried vhannibal list to no avail.must be the dish cheers for that hasn't been up for to long they put it up they can fix it.cheers digicon

        No Problem like i say the AGC is not that important as the receiver regulates the amount so as to bump up the SNR if its low or lower it if the SNR is too high.

          right sat man has been and gone fixed issue with 28.2e works perfect as do 19.2e.checked a couple of channels on 13e looked ok he left tried more channels on 13e he is coming back thursday to sort it out.nightmare.not charging for his mistake's.sat dish was fine lnb's needed tweaking.one still does.thanks for your help digicon.gave me peace of mind whilst i was trying to figure out what was wrong.
