    Setanta sport close to collapse

Setanta sport close to collapse its been reported today, even with new owners who have not put in any money to stabilising conditions at the Satellite & Cable Provider, its rumored that the new & Present owners intrests only seen to be in the Rights to broadcasting events that have been paid for and not the ones that Setanta have bid for such as Premiership Football, SPL etc or outstanding debts from previously broadcasted Sports Events.

The situation has got a little worse as Telephone lines are reporting Tech Problems and in most cases unable to get threw, Its unclear if direct Debits accounts will be haulted or if Setanta is pulled of air will there be repayments made to subscribers.

The company is under the eye of Sports Giant ESPN seemingly poised to finally make inroads to the UK football broadcasting market, it remains to be seen if a take over will happen or if ESPN will just buy up the broadcasting right if and when Setanta finaly closes at a reduced rate...

As future matches have not been paid for by Setanta it points to that by the start of the Premiership season Setanta Sports will no longer be functioning or could be called ESPN sports, Both company have a big subscription base across America which for ESPN would be huge Incentive to taking over the Setanta broadcasting right if not the name as well....

For customers of Setanta it would be reasonable to sugest cancelling your subscription before these channels close as most operators carring Setanta will not return payment made unless they can get payment for the failed opperator, its a bit of a catch 22, but as you pay Sky in advance for your subscription you could have paid for a month or two ahead of time, for Bars and Clubs this bill is rather large and people could well lose money from such an event if and when Setanta call it a day.

Just heard on the wirless that they are not taking any more subs (well, you would have to be daft), also, heard that sky refused to buy out the setanta rights for next season, though thought this was against euro rules!!!

Espn refused to pay something like ?100M (or was it ?1billion) for sultana, I think if they go into adminsistration, espn will swoop in with the ?1 bid and take the debt. Just my thought.

Maybe ITV digital will buy 'em out, eh!!

ITV are in trouble as well and are heading in a direction where they will break free from been a Public service Broadcaster and stop taking Goverment money to opperate, in a bid to advetise and program what they like, ITV have nearly lost all there coverage of big Sporting Events (except for the boat Race) there in no position to enter the football market....

ESPN will buy up the remaining Setanta bids that they made for EPL & Spl at a reduced rate, they will make some money from the UK subscribers but they will make two fold selling it across America as they are on the mojority of Networks across America unlike Setanta who were only on a few Networks..

Much suffering around the tv networks these days.

Ch 4 are on the ropes, BBC always with the hands out for more.

Virgin must loose ?millions what with all the cable boxes around like kryptview, starview etc, I think they will struggle to find cash for nag3 and am supprised Sly ley tham show sports and sky 1 etc.

Only sky making the big dosh I would think; they are getting an iron grip on the whole sat market.

Was it die another day. truth stranger than fiction!!!!!
