    Using N@va box in uk?

    Hi all,

I'm planning on getting a N@va box on a minimum subscription from Greece (from inlaws) as mother inlaw is coming over for few months and plugging it into my satellite which is pointed at hotbird 13.e to receive basic greek channels.

As far as I can tell this will work but just wanted to check?

I've got a VU+ box and satellite receives N@va channels on satellite but obviously they do not clear, only fta ones work.
Would the card from N@va box work in the VU+ anyhow? from what I've read the card is paired to box which is rather annoying!

    Any help/opinions appreciated

    Rich

        Thanks
I think your correct, so putting card in another box(i.e. Vu+) is not an option, annoyingly will have too boxes and loose my 13e sat on vu+ for now.

But as well as I have a paired card/box from address in Greece with payments being made by in-laws from Greece then it should work yeah?
I'm not aware of any connection between box and phone line being necessary so they will not know where the box is being used I suppose?

as long as you get the paired box card i don't see why it should not work

Nova issued a new pairing system earlier on this year as i know they could be used in 3rd party receivers with SID Limit to 1 channel only, I have not kept up to date with it but i assume now with the newer pairing process that as stated the card is now locked to the official receiver as well as SID limit still in place.

As you only have one feed i assume from your 13? east dish have you asked for the specification of the official receiver as it may have loop through facility which would allow you to use both receivers on the same dish One at a time obviously

Its been hard finding info, mainly using Google translate and getting Mrs to more accurately translate stuff but I think you've correct digicon, think either use their box/card in combination or no channels at all.

Not sure if loop through Is a option, but what will be will be, mother in-law already has box/card installed, just needs re-activating I think as at holiday home at present.
It was hard enough to explain to her via Mrs(who ain't good with gadgets etc.) that I didn't need the cable from the satellite, or even the satellite!
Could get a dual/quad lnb, I should of done at start but didn't think as I only had single tuner.

Will get box in next couple of weeks via post pre her coming so can get set up.

Next problem is getting it streamed to another room, maybe hdmi/cat6 converter and I.R. extender but that's off topic and subject to another post if I get stuck .

              Cheers all

I know that HD on nova was hw paired using some sort of tweak key but recently there has been some sort of anti-cs measure as well..the sid limit wont really matter to you if you are only using it in 1 box but i think nova will be too much of a nightmare to try and run it with a cam on your vu internal reader..

I would maybe look into an irdeto cam and use it in one of your ci slots on the vu box..a viaccess cam might open a few channels also but an irdeto cam should open all apart from hd..dont quote me on that tho and buy a cam untill you have looked into that as the recent surflock on the cards might mean the cam would need paired to the card also..if that is the case you could chance your arm and ask nova to pair your card to a cam but that could be unlikely to happen..

And if that does work it means you can stream the box to laptops and pcs very easily via the vu,s great webif facilty

                Good luck

Guys i am from Greece, and this subject is discussed in an intense way these days.
Unfortunately your VU will not work. Also a Irdeto CAM will not work.
The company is utilizing a secure silicon pairing and only their receivers can work.
At this moment there are some old cards working on other receivers, but they are being cancelled by thousands each day.
It is only a matter of days, that no card will work outside the official box.

Nevertheless you can get an official box for free.( it is a piece of crap, but it is the only option atm)

                  Regards.

Annoying that can't use it in box I've got but at least in-laws box should work then.

Remembered this morning that I have got a old slingbox somewhere, might just use that for now to stream upstairs

Yeah, got box from N@v@ box sent over from Greece, mother in law comes beginning next month so got it all set up.
Hopefully someone will figure out how to get card to work in Linux boxes again at some point though as the N@va box is naff!
