thats a big NO NO on here m8. your best bet for price is either get a BT sports sub for ?12 a month to give you 1 match a week or get yourself a cheap motorised system and use fta, biss, softcam and feeds for your footy fix.... sadly its expensive for sly or an official foriegn based provider and isnt easy either, regards mdt

What does a softcam do?? And is it really the case that I wouldn't be able to insert a card from a foreign tv network (say abu dhabi) to my own box, like a dreambox or technosat?thats a big NO NO on here m8. your best bet for price is either get a BT sports sub for ?12 a month to give you 1 match a week or get yourself a cheap motorised system and use fta, biss, softcam and feeds for your footy fix.... sadly its expensive for sly or an official foriegn based provider and isnt easy either, regards mdtComment

a softcam is basically a text file containing keys to open certain channels with certain patches on various boxes
I am not convinced that you can even receive middle eastern channels at your location, never mind successfully operate a dreambox or vu and setup a working oscam emuComment

Yes ... for about ?100 you can get set up to get all 380 EPL matches via streaming.
You can either watch on your HTPC, PC or Android devices ( handheld or Android Tv boxes )
Also you can view on Iphone or Ipad etc.
There are loads of ways to watch Aljareeza tv via streaming ... the choice is yours.Comment

As a complete novice I have a few questions....
1) Regarding what ramjet said, is a 'box' compulsory for internet streaming? I thought that you could simply purchase a subscription, and hook up your laptop to a tv?
2)With the softcam, don't really get it. So if I were to get any box (say a dm) and download a "softcam", I could decrypt all the channels???
Sorry for my noobishness but literally only been exploring satellite since roughly 3 hours ago

1) no , but its a common way for some of the providers, others may allow you to use tablets and laptops etc as long as you have paid for the streaming service, or both in some casesAs a complete novice I have a few questions....

what you have to realise is there are many methods and options, and the different broadcasters all have their own options, same as bt sports is available with cards, streaming to tablets and smartphones and laptops, various options exist
2) the point about using satellite is the beams are aimed at different parts of the world, so if you are in the uk it may be hard or impossible to get channels aimed at cairo and the middle east - the point is you cannot just stick a 1 metre dish up and assume you get every channel from everywhere in the world - not possible
as for softcams and patches, the patches only decode what they are coded for, and the softcams contain the known keys for a few channels , open one up in notepad and you will see the keys and the broadcasters served by those keys
for example, some bulsat channels on 39e are opened with the softcam keys, in a patched box, including a dreambox (provided your dish is pointed at 39e)
you cannot expect to understand a vast subject like this in a few hours, or even in a few weeks, some of us have learned the details over many years
I did write a "dummies" guide on the forum here some time ago
here , have a read of this http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-setup-301108/Comment

You mention how softcams are keys which decode encrypted channels, so what is the difference between a softcam key and a cline??Comment

Surely you would have to purchase softcam keys though, you wouldnt just be able to enter a code and magically unlock all encrypted channels? Is this legal also?Comment

i think you need to spend about a week just reading the threads/forums to get an idea of whats what..
basically you have these choices..
1. official sly sub
2. bt sports sub
3. motorised dish for fta/softcam/biss/feeds(free channels)
4. official viewing card with fixed/motorised dish(forget admc as they dont have epl and require jodrel bank sized dish)
5. streaming
sofcams are free , only open a few packages and change quite often
personally id go with a tm5402hd and a motorised dish as this will give you access to free tv as ive listed and will give you the option to use 80% of official cards at a later date if you wish. you could of course go for a spiderbox 6000hd,triax td78cm dish, darkmotor and black ultra lnb and fit it yourself for under ?200... this will give you access to a wealth of channels for 12 months when connected to your router aswell as softcam, fta, biss and feeds. you must be prepared to do a great deal of reading and put the work in to enjoy cheapish tv but if you want to plug in and then watch be prepared to spend alot of money via sly, official foriegn card/box/dish or a bt sports sub. regards mdtDM800HDSE SIM 2.10. no purchase necessary, softcam have always been free of charge and used for many years
viewing any subscription channel without a valid subscription is not legal !Comment
-
Ok interesting. So what can this free softcam unlock? I presume not an awful lot, seeing as it's free...?Comment
-
correct, as I said before , the softcam is a text file so open one in notepad and see , it also depends if it contains biss keys or not , some do , some dont
most have the list of channels or broadcasters that are opened, along with the satellite position, so check the postings in the relevant sections for the different softcams
you need to do a lot of reading on these subjects - as was mentioned before
they used to open a lot more but has dwindled down over the years, some people on here or elsewhere will post biss keys and softcams for other members to use in their boxesComment
