hi i have a satellite (no motor) with a dual lnb which has an inbuilt diseqc switch. i have 2 receivers can i just install a regular splitter to provide a feed for both receivers?

no, but you could fit an a-b switch and have it feed one receiver or the other at the press of a button
or depending on the receiver you may be able to use the loop out of one receiver to feed the other one, with limited channels on the second box if both are on at the same time

i have an old humax irci 5400z and a skybox f5 both have a loop out but i would like to have both receivers with all the channels i think the simplest method is to have a dual feed lnb to power up both receivers

yep, that is what you need , separate feeds from a twin or quad lnb
