My advice steer well clear the Spark side may work OK but if you want to use the E2 side for decent 7 Day EPG its worthless, what i would suggest is do some research on google and search for 'Amiko Alien E2 Judder'

Personally i would not entertain one at all

the only ones worth considering (in my opinion) are the vu solo2 or duo 2 , duo 1 (if you can find one) or the tm-twin which I believe is like a duo 1

having said that, I do not think these boxes are suitable for "somebodys mum" due to the fact they are for hobbyists and may require regular updates, meaning the "technician" that sets them up has to do the chores. the F5 may be a lot easier to setup due to the simpler nature of its firmware and updating. then there could be a problem with the fact that both channels may be scrambled and so this could cause various issues we cannot discuss here

its easy to just say, I want this , my mum wants that , and assume it is going to be hunky dory, but the reality is that if you want or need to keep it simple then the official sly box plus or something similar is the way to go. possibly a twin tuner freesat pvr (or digital freeview pvr) like some of the humax range

I find that in this "game" its ok setting yourself up and learning the ropes, but once you start doing it for others it can get very complicated and time consuming, especially when its for relatives

      good luck

frankly, you get what you pay for, maybe the boxes are not too dear but you have set your budget too cheap !! ever think of that ?

            your thread title says this

best twin view box to buy
it doesnt say - whats the cheapest rubbish twin tuner box to buy for my mum ?

I would not touch the clones myself, go for a tm twin which is supposedly like my vu duo 1, if you dont go with the solo2 or duo 2 options - and which are the
best twin view box to buy

You should also consider the extrend / clarketech 9000, 9100 or 9200 box.

These are E2 twin tuner machines which run flawlessly.

i have had clone duos solo's and uno's and can say the duo's do suffer a large amount of psu failures and some also have front panel faults.

The best box i have found yet in clone range is the clone uno and here is the best bit adding a genuine twin tuner module to the clone uno lets it run as a genuine box and it all costs under ?190 for uno and twintuner

                      Hi Mike,

Its an enigma 2 receiver so everyhting related in the Vu Section of the board and most of the sections in the Dreambox E2 part are also relevant.

The best thing you can do now is read as much information in the VU section before it arrives

                      Regards

m8 does alarm bells not ring when you say its genuine and 3 months old and has a fault genuine box's are covered by a warranty and if this box was like this from day one as he states why not just return it under the warranty
