Watching Al Jazeera sports on satellite

Recently AJ took channels 5-10 away from 13e and to different satellites.

I wanted to ask what satellites I can now find these channels (not sure whether its 7w or 7.3w or 26e), and whether I could watch these from the UK

    Thanks

you can find the answer on kingofsats, but
for anything from 7w in the uk you will need a
large dish and the further north and west you are
the bigger it will need to be, i have a 1.2 dish and even
today in good weather i cant get a strong enough signal
to open the jsc sports hd5 and 6 chns i do get hd chns 1 to 4 open, but i have just read this elsewhere and i'm sure the info is correct so even if you get a big dish etc, you wont get the jsc channels

sky UK will be blocked within 6 months or so which is when
they will force new cards with boxes pairing untill a fix is found
          which will be hard.
Also jsc will be blocked same way in december / january.

I dont think it matters, because 98% of us in the uk wont be getting them - period

if you aimed your dish at 7 west you would pick up 7.3 west too , and the same the other way round, thats if you could get a signal anyway

Probably not the correct place to post this but xbmc and teledunet add on will get all jsc + channels

As you say not the correct place as the Title header reads Watching Al Jazeera sports on satellite

And not any mention of an IPTV service, Back to the Question though i would hazard a guess at just JSC +1 - +5 and then HD 1-6 you would need a 1.8m at the very least to provide some sort of weather margin again though as with any install Location is key

I have a 1.2mtr dish in Southern Turkey and still cannot receive the MENA beam at 7W. So, I receive JSC 1-10 SD, but cannot receive the HD channels 1-6.

Looking at the footprints at satbeams.com you'd need a damn big dish in the UK to get this.

Hi. What you talking about.. my customers can pick up 1-5 HD in London with a 1m dish. Although when it rains then picture quality is not very good. If you are in Turkey you are closer so should have no problem in my opinion. Have you got the correct setup???

                    Regards.

                      Thanks for the info.

I am actually starting to think if my dish has been set up properly... the SD channels are fine, but never been able to watch the HD streams from the Eutelsat beams. Maybe I ought to have a play!

Interesting to see what you can get in the UK with just 1mtr

Hi. Best thing to do is check you have correct frequencies in your receiver to begin with. Also try and adjust dish and LNB setting. I am sure that from Turkey you should have no problems picking up more channels from 7 west then people in the UK. Remember in many cases its not just the dish size that matters but also type of receiver/LNB and dish alignment that counts. What receiver do you have??

                        Regards.

I've checked the frequencies stored in the receiver to be correct, and after reading your comments I am quietly confident of finding the missing channels after a fettle over the weekend. Some of the local installers aren't the best tbh, and is often better to do the job yourself around here!

My receiver is a Next 18500 HD Plus. A Turkish unit, and not bad for the 30 quid I paid.

                          Will update with some results...

                          Cheers

You should not have any problems with the MENA beam footprint in Turkey your right in the hotspot and according to the EIRP output a 60cm dish should suffice in your region.

I had a play about with one of the Next receivers someone brought one back from turkey it was the Next Pandora receiver running android, Took me and another member a few days searching for the firmware but once patched it opened a few packages on 13? east as well as Turksat on 42? east and a couple of others.

As your receiving JSC 1-10 in SD then you will be fine as JSC 6-10 are on Nilesat 201 which we have no chance of receiving in the UK without a Massive dish.

Keep persevering as you are probably only missing the TP frequency from your receiver for the missing HD channels

Yeah, the Next receiver I have is ok. It does the job I suppose for what I need... it has blind search, usb pvr & timeshift, iptv option, and a few extras. Not sure if I will find much in terms of firmware updates, and the channel editor program I downloaded was a waste of time.

The TP frequencies are all stored, as mentioned above, it just needs a few nudges at a guess.

btw, where are you reading that I'm in the hotspot for MENA? According to all the maps I've seen, I'm just outside the 43 dBW range
