what size of dish do you need?

    hi all
what size of dish would be needed for the wigan area (northwest uk ) so that you could get hotbird and astra 19.2 ?
also when setting up with a dual arm lnb which sat do you aim at hotbird or astra ?

90cm will be fine around your area for astra and hotbird...
fix the dish on hotbird and the signal from astra will bounce off
the dish to the right of the main lnb onto other lnb..

90cms is way big enough.. you could get them both on a 60cms in wigan

No use a monoblock lnb which has 1 lnb input...then use auto diseq on receiver and it will automatically change when you switch chanels between both sats...also with monoblock its set at 6 deg apart so when you on hotbird the other will pick up astra without fiddling about...using a multiarm bracket and 90cm
i once had thor 1west and astra 19.2 off same dish...

yes mate...also i was thinking it would be better to motorise your dish cos you are not benefiting from all the chanels the maxx will open..on 16e you have digitalb that show all the sky and setanta games as well as ch league and carling cup.also 5 good movie chanels..a must really...tv cabo on 30w also a good package...you could buy a diseq motor from maplins for 60quid and have access to all sats....not hard to set up and youve got tonns of help at hand on here....

ive already got my system set up with a motor and got all the stuff you told me about the other week :-)
this is so i can fit them for other people at the right price
                  ( i fit aerials for a living )
i can see a nice earner from these :-)
i need to buy a sat meter do you recommend any?

yeah gibbo..i would go for the horizon meter it has all the pre stored sat positions easy to use and extremely sensitive on weaker satellites, the best i have used by far...i also have a wolsey lacuna which is ok for strong birds but poor on the weaker birds...as for sky meter well there total shite....

Both satellites have strong signals across the Uk, can even can be received on camping satellite dish with all most all channels coming through ! So to be honest a 60cm dish (if thats all your after) wilth a monoblock would be more than enough...

If you get a 80-90cm dish you can receive 28e 13e and 19e with a muliti bracket fitted to the dish.... will get you all 3 satellites all on one dish...

                      Regards:

yeah m8 iv done a thiew...theres a little bit of bending of the bracket the further apart of the sats you go but quite easy...
the only drawback is when its windy and the brackets flapping about a bit...with a 1.1m you can get 1west and 28deg east no probs....

dish... a 1.1m bracket would support Jodrell Bank
