New house has sky dish and cables coming through lounge. Active?

Would this sky line be active? Or would I have to call sky and get a subscription and a phone line

I am hoping I can get a subbed sky box and use a 3g connection to get channels?

Can anyone confirm if I buy a box and connect will it pick up channels

It all seems to be in good nick

Depends on the size of the dish if it is one of the small grey mesh mini dishes and the cable is in good order, the LNB is not knackered or the dish been knocked out of line of Astra 28E then you should be good to go and you'll only know that when you try to connect a box to it. If however it is one of the larger round black mesh type of dish then it's more than likely an old Sky pre digital dish and you will need to replace the LNB and cabling at least.

If you are wanting PPV content from Sky then yes you will need to call Sky and get a subscription and they will require you keep the box connected to a working telepone line for at least 12 months.
However if you just want the Freesat from Sky content (i.e. no sports or movies) then just connect an ex subscription Sky box to the existing dish and away you go. Depends if you want a contract with Sky or not really as to what content you will be able to receive.

When I moved into my place it already had a dish outside and cables coming into the lounge like yourself so I just connected a box to it and voila Freesat from Sky.

Assuming the lnb is in working order and its pointing to the correct satellite it should be fine.
