Issue with signal?

Just for information if you ordered an official $ly Quad LNB then they are preset for skew at No3 on the scale which is used all over the UK so you should not need to touch the Skew of the LNB, what you should in fact do is alter the Azimuth by gripping both sides of the $ly dish and tilting either left or right very marginally to maximise signal.

Thanks guys, I purchased this one BRAND NEW SKY QUAD LNB LATEST VERSION WITH 4 FREE F CONNECTORS & LEGACY ADAPTER | eBay it seems to be a genuine one.

Hopefully i dont mess it up, plan is first to tighten the cable see what that does, if it works perfect great, if not then need to identify is it a mk3 or 4 lnd and then either use the adaptor or not. if that makes better perfect if not then need to play with alignment. Hopefully all goes well. Im planning on using an app on my iphone but also shows direction so will also use the box to use the signal strength. Is it better to align using the sky box or the the vu solo? also whats a good signal strengh? my own vu solo shows a strength of 70% @ 28.2 but when im on sky one it drops to 37%

Phone apps give you a magnetic direction which has nothing to do with dish alignment, just an approximate guide and wont help you to fine tune the dish

as for your solo, you should get a better signal than 37% but that may be an image problem or something else, but I would expect double

so unless you can trust your own box, you may be best to tweak it using the sly box itself

If your gonna use an app use one that allows you to control vu solo and see snr and agc from channels on an upto date channel list you have installed before you start messing, dm satfinder is a good one for android not sure if available for fruits. I get 77% on sly 1 from minidish with standard zinwell quad lnb on solo and uno using blackhole 2.05

Thanks guys for all the help you all provided. Just thought i would let u all know how i got on, I went over and found the lnb did have a loose connection but it still did not help when tightened. the dish was the new style mk4 dish and after a while of playing around the signal was still fluctuating, after a while we noticed a tree branch was in the way of the signal and when it was windy it was blowing in its way. A quick snip of the tree and we had a stable reception again and good strength again. So now its time to return the LNB
