    Reciever upgrade

second question. If I wanted to replace my spiderbox HD900 with a new receiver which would be best for a user of limited ability. Anything to make life easier.

you wont find one easier than what you already own

if buying a new box, consider a genuine VU linux box like the solo or duo or similar

spiderbox 6000 HD should be ok, especially as you are already familiar with them, it will need another coax feed from the lnb on your dish though

I've got a twin lnb with a coax set up on my old *** box. so where is the best place to buy? I got my current one in a kit online but all the coax was perished and the lnb didn't work. If I do install a second receiver for multi room will it work out of the box or will there be any software upgrades?

all receivers require you to do a 3rd party upgrade as its illegal to sell them ready patched

            I would try goldwafers

Thanks. I'll be back when I've bought the new receiver. I really am amazed at how much genuine good advice is available on this forum. Most forums I've joined have been full of people patronising people who are genuinely looking for help. Thanks again. A breath of fresh air,

the hard part for experienced users like myself is knowing who are the ones wanting genuine help compared to those who arent and here for reasons unknown

all these recent changes meant that when I checked my spiderbox I found that I needed to actually do the job myself on dozens of channels, so decided to give you the same info as I was using and tell you how I was doing it by reciting the steps etc

I also have used many simpler boxes and yet have some linux boxes like the vu duo so know the differences and can see where your confusion and decision making problems occur, and why

there are some owners that will come back with all kinds of strange replies when pointed in the right direction, or almost want you to do it all for them, whereas you read and acted on what I said and did some of the work yourself, like tracking down those new transponders and scanning them and then reporting back when completed

I actually tested you by deliberately NOT PROVIDING the transponder details to see if you would go and actually find them yourself

believe me, for one of you there are ten others that make a simple task into a long saga, mainly because they wont take the info onboard and then try to work it out from the info given

so I am a great believer in only helping those who help themselves, provide feedback and are polite about it like you were, thereby prompting me to answer your other questions too

the aim of this was to make sure that you knew how to do all the other affected transponders on your spiderbox, and to give you food for thought as regards buying a second box as multiroom

We do patronise Like Ramjet says we try and offer advice but hate spoon feeding certain new members. Most of us started like yourself and only gained experience in Sat by doing the leg work and reading and searching posts, Andy.
