    New Horizons/Horizons motor?

Hi all. Any feedback on a Horizons/New Horizons motor? Are they any good?
A mate asked me and I'm not sure as I've only ever used Dark Motors. Are they reliable and and quiet in operation as This is pretty important to him.
    Thanks for your feedback.

Anything new and you always take a chance if they will be reliable. I use a 2600 and I can't hear it unless I am close to it. Here is Oct 2013 Sat list

depends on the box being used as well, some can "stutter2 with the spiderbox 9000 and 7000 , like the tm2600

but generally speaking, the darkmotor , stab 120 and tm2600 are good motors to use
the main thing to check is that the gears are metal, not plastic

I have a darkmotor now and cannot fault it, works with any box I have tried it with - no problem

Thanks for your replies. He is getting the new horizons motor for a good price, so just wanted to ask how they compared. looks like there isn't much in it TBH, just need to check if it is metal gears I guess.
The table above says that it is whisper quiet, which is always a good thing as he has his dish mounted on the wall of his kids bedroom.

I read somewhere that they "stutter" in usals mode with the spiderbox 7000 and 9000, hence my previous post

if he has got one of those, use it in diseqc mode like the tm2600 to avoid it stopping and starting when moving

He has a vu+ duo, so should be ok then. Thanks.

Personally would not touch the New horizons motor as the 'Spigot' is a non standard size something like inch and a half instead of the bog standard 2 inch, It never feels like the dish clamps grab the stub properly.

Eveb at a good price i would have gone with one of the other brands

Got to agree with Digi on this, I had one and sold it on. It was painfully slow compared to newer motors and the spigot is small and made from a thinner material than I have seen on other motors. I would advise your pal to reach a little further into his pocket and do it right 1st time.
