Need Some Help Choosing a Box.

Hi all, currently I have a Skybox F3S and while I am happy with the quality the EPG is driving me crazy. I'm currently spending countless Minutes/hours flicking channels to find something to watch hence the reason I'm asking for much needed help/advice.

I have been scouring countless forums trying to find the box I need and have been left somewhat, bewildered.

So basically I have came to the conclusion that:

I need a box that has Auto Bouquets - So I dont have to mess around when channels/transponers change.
Need at Least 7 Day EPG
    Accepts CCcam
And finally and option to record (Internal/External) Not fussed

My Budget would be around ?150-?200

If someone who's knowledge exceeds mine could possible point me in the correct direction I would be very gratefull.

    Many Thanks

Thanks, I've been looking at the VU for the past month or so and have been hearing mixed reviews. I think I might take a leap of faith and go for it.

Is VIX the best Image to have installed as there is quite a choice Black Hole etc

      Again thanks for your help.

you wont waste money on a vu but you can with a skybox, only time will tell if you decide to move sooner or later.

Just bought a VU+ Duo from W-O-S, hopefully have it by Monday!

                Thanks again for the advice.

If you mean, do I have 2 cables/feeds from the dish? the answer would be yes as I had Sly+ installed and sharply removed.

If I misinterpreted, please kindly explain?

Have I made a good or bad decision with the DUO?

                    Thanks again!

I bought the solo 2 about a month ago....wish i would of bought it 12 months ago
they are great boxes....i can tell you one thing bye bye to the old messages from the F boxes you get ....no signal...scrambled....freezing picture.......
once you set the box up these will be things of the past ....

Yes a good choice of box....
As for the image...i tried Vix....very user friendly...but i have stuck with...blackhole better but slightly harder to setup,,,but once you get to grip's with the box & help from members
very easy.....apart from the hour's & hours of reading ....

You have made the correct choice......next step get a motorized dish mate

I believe W-O-S are pre-flashing the box with VIX 3.0.

I think I will stay with this image for the time being until I am comfortable with the box.

I have been planning to get a motorised dish installed and have asked some local sat installers for prices but they seem to stay clear on these. Wonder why?

Anyways, I don't suppose you have a rough guesstimate of how much standard motorised dishes generally cost (parts & installation) incase a cowboy gives me a dodgy quote!

                        Thanks.

You should be able to pick up a td88 with inverto black ultra lnb and technomate motor with metal gears (think it's the tm2600) for around the ?150 Mark and there is a very good tut on site to install it yourself. That way if it ever gets moved slightly in strong winds you will know how to realign it and will ultimately get a better job done because it's your own hers a guide price without the inverto lnb http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...d=310405200867 for the td88 and here is the triax 110cm if you want to go a bit bigger http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...d=310405200851 prices are ?125 & ?135 respectively
You would be better buying them seperate though and getting t&k wall brackets instead of the L shaped wall mount and inverto black ultra twin lnb for your twin tuner box instead of single disc lnb in those kits. Gives you an idea of what you are looking for though

an alternative motor is a dark motor superior or supreme , but parts wise its roughly in line with the above , so between ?12 and ?175 approx

fitting charges vary greatly and most installers only do fixed dishes, the motorised ones are more work and more complicated, although there are tuts and u tube vids to help you if you do it yourself like I did

doing it yourself and succeeding means you can fix it if anything goes wrong, like being moved by the wind or something else, plenty of threads about it on here

as a rough guide you should expect to pay the same amount to an installer that you paid for the parts, so typically ?125 to ?150

I believe the boxes come with a basic vix image, not the full monty image

                              Thanks again for your reply's

I will definitely invest in this after Crimbo when the funds are back to normal! The Missus is already on my back about buying a new box and would have my balls on a plate if I had a cheeky dip into the wedding funds for a Sat dish :-/
