Hi all,
I used to use the DK forum a few years ago when you could use freeview boxes to receive VM channels for free. I think a short while after VM changed something in their network/system (which meant receiving their channels was no longer possible), the rules may have changed on this forum which meant you couldn't talk about that sort of thing anymore anyway.
I just wanted to check if that was still the case? I've now got my own place (married and all grown up) but in our area, VM don't offer cable TV. The previous owner of my house had sky, the sky dish is still bolted on to the back of my house and I think the spare aerial cable behind my TV is connected to the dish.
I've heard rumours and bits of information that you can use some sort of freeview box to receive sky channels if you plug the freeview box into a sky dish and have an ethernet cable going into the freeview box too.
I've been going through bits and bobs of information on this forum, in the satellite section and can see that it is possible (although maybe using another dish that you have to install yourself?) and you have to make do with European channels (that still show footy etc).
Can somebody please clarify for me:
Can I get the advice I'm looking for on this forum to know which range of boxes (if more than one) are available to me if I want to begin receiving sky/extra channels?
I've seen people refer to channels using "$" - I take it these are the paid channels? Am I right in assuming that we can't talk about those channels on this forum?
Many thanks in advance
