additional box?

Hi All,

On behalf of my father, he currently has sky installed into his home. In the back room he has a Tv with poor Terestrial Reception as he hasn't connected Sky Through.

Is It possible to intercept the cable coming into the main box in the front room and then placing a splitter on it and then running a cable through to the other tv and connect it to another set top box to change the channel from there.

If the bove is possible what is the ideal solution of set top box at a reasonable cost to enable to do this, rather than going back to sky and going for multi room.

no.. if you want to watch different channels in different rooms you need multiroom as you need a second card..

To watch the same channel in another room but be able to change the channel from that room you can use this..

Sky Remote Eye > Maplin

but it will change channels on both TV's..

The little mouse goes on top or next to the second TV

cheers for that i thought so, just thought i'd ask. I beleive that he has tried running cable before but got very poor reception and so has never bothered to use it, is there any reason for poor reception from the inbound cable or does it just need boosting.

Also i know all he wants is a decent reception to watch TV on in the back room, could you run a cable through from the incoming sky cable split it and then through to the back room tv and place a free sat box there and obtain free sat channels obtained from the sky dish, or am i being a little adventurous.

when you use a splitter the quality drops a little.. you could try a booster.. or make sure the cable is trimmed properly and the connectors are seated well.. also check he used satellite quality coax and not just TV coax

My mate has a Sky mouse and the quality is fine.. i'd check the cables..

Or see if he has a dual or even a quad LNB.. there will be a free port and you can run a cable from the lnb along the side of the house and into the back room and into a second sky box..

Sky boxes are ten a penny on ebay.. the only drawback is he would only be able to watch free channels with this option

yes mate.. if you want to access your full subscription from another room then go down the mouse route..

Use high quality coax cable.. make sure all ends are trimmed and seated correctly.. have no further splits between the two connections..

ive seen the 4 way mouse used and good picture in all 4 extra rooms..
