Sky Digital HD Boxes Chipped

I have been offered to have my Sky Box chipped to show all channels except PPV, now i am a little bit suspicious as the chap from london will meet me somewhere and then return with my equipment after the chip has been fitted which takes about 20 mins each box,apparently the chip works on all sky equipment including sky+ and HD.
Now is this really possible...

I really didn't think it was possible to chip any sky boxes,and when he said for me to give hime a ring and he will walk down and meet me to collect the equipment alarm bells started ringing.
I told him i would have to know where he lives as i don't know him and handing over a few hundred quids worth of satellite equipment would be asking for trouble.

I have a full hd subscription which is half price for 12 months through a mate who works for sky,so i am very happy just to keep that.

Its been reported for the past few years that the receivers could be chiped to open all channels using a philips microprocessor attached to the BGA of a SKY receiver , the price for such a service was around the 400 mark, I have never heard if it true or anybody that had it done !


I would go with the rest of you guys on this one ! its a scam ....If there was a way of doing this we would know about it some where along the line..

i came across a guy that lives in the blackburn area that was chipping sky boxes about a year ago and you sent him the box via royal mail and he would send you another sky box and card (not your own box ) that worked for about 3 -6 months i never bought one so i dont know if they wotked or not and he was charging ?150 so it thought for that price i would just keep pay for my sub and forgot about it but the important think was i had is address

why not buy a faulty non working box from ebay for a few quid .. give him the box and see if he can do magic on it

AFAIK they did this scam in the US too. Asked you for a couple of $$$ from which they bought a legit sub and gave it to you. Then cancelled the service and kept the rest of the money and you got pwned. This has nothing to do with a box/card hack by any means. They hack you!
