    Possible N3 fix.

Just read on another site here in America that two receiver teams are set to release a stand alone fix for N3 in one or two weeks but did not mention his source. As far as I"m concerned this is ONLY a rumor, but definitely got my attention.

      Well, can only hope.

And one for Conax 7 would be nice.

As for Conax that was not realy a hack ! it was only available on Duolabs products Duolabs have a history of buying Keys and codes from providers especially from Poor Countrys like Digitalb and Romanian services on Thor these providers got extra revenue in return from Duolabs . Conax upgraded them to Cas7 to knock this practices out of the rogue Providers.

As for N3 we all know it will not work on all receivers and there is a pretty short list of compatable receivers that can except even a original N3 viewing card never mind any possable hacks this is due to the memory & processor of these receivers.

N3 in my mind is very secure and is unlikely to be opened for at least half of its expected life before N4 comes along so we could be looking at a year or two before anything happens.

As with N*S N3 has been used for a while now especially in Europe and there has never been a sniff of one channels opening in all this time, I think it will remain that way...

If Nagravision 3 is hacked that will be the end of this company and this encryption, They are not going to let it be opened...and remember if it is they can change the ROM as every Provider has a different one, making it very hard to pin down the correct codes for that particular provider.

        Regards.

Cheers Alun, explains a lot, especially the conax one.

i found this posted elsewhere and dont know if it's fact or fiction.
is the info and questions in this thread beyond rumor make your own mind up

            THE FUTURE
I hope that someone here can answer all or some of these questions with informed and reliable information (I fully understand that reliable information is a relative term and that in dealing with this hobby any and all info is

            NAGRAVISION 3 or 4
Apparently both DN and BEV are committed to switching over to a new encryption technology referred to as Nagravision 3 or 4.
Info in one thread indicated that the current Nagravision encryption was cracked by a European Group and it took over a years work before they were successful and that this group or groups referred to as the ROM Groups in one post have the skills to do this and that the coders currently providing the working bins will be unable to accomplish anything until Nag 3/4 has been compromised.
If history repeats itself it could require many months or longer to crack this new encryption method and that most likely those who utilize these 3rd party files in order to view DN or BEV will be unable to do so and their viewing will be limited to true FTA signals, perhaps for months or longer until the new Nag 3/4 encryption is cracked.

Q1. Is this correct interpretation of what to expect in the near future?

Q2. Does anyone have any reasonably accurate info that could further enlighten us about these upcoming events?
Apparently Bev is nearing completion on it's card swap and providing subs with it's new so called smart card. Also from my understanding Bev will switch over to the new encryption method referred to Nagravision 3 or 4.

Q3. Is the card swap and the introduction of the Nag 3/4 encryption technology two separate security measures on Bev's part or is the new card simply a requirement in order for the subs to unscramble the Nag 3/4 encryption technology? Info in various threads indicate that DN will also be switching over to the new encryption method provided by Nagravision 3/4 by the end of this year.

Q4. Is DN is in the process of doing a card swap for their subs also or are they able to utilize the Nagravision 3/4 encryption technology without the necessity of a card swap?

            FULL EMULATION

On July 10th Neosat V2 team indicated that with the release of v 2.95 they had achieved a FULL EMULATION (Cardless along with IKS fixes).

"this is NOT a patch, this is FULL EMU. 99% guarantee Neosat will stay up until a card swap. and if it ever goes down, it will be fixed within 30 minutes max."
I'm under the impression that FULL EMULATION means that utilizing the FULL EMULATION bins the systems work the same as an actual subscribers would. Yet he specifically indicated that the system would work until a card swap - indicating that with the card swap and/or introduction of the Nag 3/4 encryption they also would have to start from scratch and wait for the Nag 3/4 to be cracked.

Q5. A full emulation will also go down until the Nag 3/4 technology is cracked, is this correct? My understanding of the workings of IKS and HIKS are minimal. Like most here my primary concern is will they continue to deliver. Currently Neosat has both IKS (v3.15 - server 1) & HIKS (v10.06 - server 2) available.

Q6. Will the iPros continue to receive DN & BEV when connected to the IKS or HIKS systems after the activation of the NAG 3/4 encryption technology and Card Swaps or will the v2 team also be dependant on the cracking of the NAG 3/4 encryption method in order to keep the iPros connected to the IKS/HIKS systems working?

Q7. If the new card swap is a seperate security technology and not just a method of unscrambling the new NAG 3/4 encryption technology, will this prevent IKS/HIKS systems from delivering a usuable signal.

Q8. What of the other receivers using IKS such as nfusion - is it expected that they will continue working or are their IKS systems dependant on a crack of Nag 3/4 ?

Q9. Lastly is their any difference with the receivers not originally marketed with a build in IKS connection and now utilizing internet adapters or so called Dongle's to connect to IKS systems - as far as expectations after the implementation of Nag 3/4?

I certainly understand that their are no guarantees when it comes to pursueing the fta hobby. However answers to the above questions are quite important to those of us who may be considering expenditures for additional hardware or upgrades.

Funny you posted that because I can across the new Digitv ECM and CA-ID info yeterday and the information included details of this been N4 and not been N3, I just took it as a mistake.

But after reading your detailed post this now makes sence N4 is supposed to be where the card is married to the receiver (specially made receivers with a surface mounted BGA to control the card) Something like the SKY Digibox, So I am thinking Nagravision are going to use the N3 card in the way the N4 System is indended on some of there customers Platform such as Digitv.

To answer the question of will it hamper card Sharing (Its a bit early) but as we have seen with Sky Cards its totaly possable once a scrypt is written for a receiver like a Dreambox...

If this latest news is true and the card / Receiver is a hybrid N3/N4 it can only mean two things...

              1. Nagravision have now seen a weakness or possable opening in there encryption system and are scrambling to address is by using there next version of there technologue with providers that are willing to provide special receivers to each of there customers....on the lines of what Sky Digital do..

              2. Digitv and other providers covering a large subscriber base (covering a few countrys or large area mass like the USA ) where piracy is on a larger scale have asked for something more than what N3 is offering and providers not putting there trust in the N3 technologue have aked for something more up to date on the lines of other encryptions that are been used...

This N4 / N3 news will be bad news for the free to air community or Emu & Key users as many providers who use Pairing or marrying the card to the receiver never makes it across to Emulator & Keys stage and this I think is what many providers want to achieve and address the Card Sharing issue some another day..
