Ditching Sky & need advice on best box to get

Please bear with me, i'm new at this & looking for advice. I'm sick of paying Sky a fortune every month so was looking for a far cheaper option. I'm in Northern Ireland & we don't have cable in our area. I know there are cable boxes out there which can be fixed to allow full packages but was wondering if it can be done through a Sky dish too. I saw this on Ebay where this box is ?150 to buy & ?70 renewal each year but I have a feeling theres cheaper out there.

By entertaining these clowns on eBay and lining their pockets you are helping with the demise of this hobby. What is being offered in that ad is highly illegal. If you saw an ad offering illicit drugs would you ask on a reputable forum of they were a good deal or if someone could help you get it cheaper elsewhere

?150 and then ?70 a year thereafter? That's not a good deal and you'd be wise not to buy 12 months at a time...

I had the F5 for a few weeks, it's not a bad box - basic and does the job, look at it as the starter to the main course.

If you can manage ?200-?250 you'll get one of the VU, Gigablue, Technomate, all singing all dancing linux based boxes. Could try a converted NBOX 5800 if money's tight, people seem happy with performance and price.

all the digital sat boxes will give you all the digital channels from a sly dish

the problem is the opening of the $ ones and that is where the forum draws the line as it cannot be discussed here (cs)

anybody can promise you 12 months and then fffffff ffff after 6 weeks !!!!

this is a hobby to us, not a method of saving money by changing from legal to illegal

first of all look for box support,i did and went for the vu range of original not clones started with a solo-------duo----------solo2 still got all 3 ,also note maybe sly might do something and be left with a freesat box,add motor and dish and other things are viewable.
