recording from AMIKO SHD8140 CX E

A Friend tried recording to a memory stick via USB but the recording was encrypted and would only play back via the box.
I presume he has some setting wrong as everyone says you can record to external device. does he need to use a particular file system : fat 32, ntfs or ex-fat or
what is his problem.
can anyone help please?

There's a setting in the pvr menu which will allow you to decide how the recordings are stored. Just change it from encrypted and select a file format.
