Channels from which satellites are available in Ireland

    Hi Guys,
I am planning to install a satellite dish system with 1.1 mtr motorised dish. I would like to know channels from which satellites would be available to me.

Would all the channels listed here are available (73?E-0?E) -
    http://www.lyngsat.com/tracker/europe.html

Also any Atlantic (0?W-61?W) or Asian (160?W-73?E)?

go to dishpointer and put a dish on your house on the map, then check for reception

no you will not receive all the satellites, and some will be much stronger than others due to where the beams are pointed at

also you wont receive any below the horizon or pointed elsewhere

a good start to look at are 13e , 19e , 28.2e and 30w , they will be your strongest ones

there should be lists in the sticky threads of the strongest and weakest transponders etc , so giving you an idea

but the dishpointer option is by far the best web based method of checking these details

      Thanks ramjet

      Thanks ramjet

I could see either a redline or green line when I select satellites in dishpointer. Is the green line an available satellite? I could see gree line for 68.5E to 80.8W

The Green line is the direction the satellite is pointing in relation to where you dragged the marker onto your property, And just for information dependent on your location in the UK and of course your line of sight most of those satellites you mention are below the UK horizon unless you live on a very big hill in a high rise then your ARC would probably be something in the region of around 60? east to 60? west with very little on the border satellites most popular being what Ramjet has already pointed out to you.

So consider the most popular ARC being 45? east to 30? west

I used to get most available satellites from 45E to 30W from 4 different dishes (90 cm) placed in different parts of an East facing back garden. East: 45, 42, 39, 33, 28, 23, 19, 16, 13, 9. West: 30, 5, 1. 26E is possible with a larger dish of at least 1 meter size.
