    Newbie: Skybox f3, f5 , a3 or technomate

Hi just wanted to know which one you recommend, Iam using the f3 but the hd picture aint that clear.. I preferably want one with crystal clear hd display and 3d capabilities.

The F3 I'm using only has sky 3d not sky sports 3d.

ive just upgraded from skybox f5 to a vu solo and the difference is a lot better just remember the skybox range are plug and play so you will have to do lots of reading. As for sky 3d they only have one channel when they show sport in 3d it just appears on the 3d channel and not the sports channels

vu solo should be 1080i I believe but I dont think any broadcast is actually 1080p , might be wrong but I dont think so

the BM5000S OR BM7000S would be good choices for this, possibly the tm5402HD as well, or the spiderbox 6000 HD, or any VU box if going linux , or the gigablue quad or tm-twin for that matter

I thought all these modern boxes did that 3D channel, but it is only the one channel on there so no biggie to me

I also thought that most if not all these modern boxes managed 1080p or 1080i, but that doesnt mean there are broadcasters actually broadcasting at 1080p !

Just to Clear this up Almost 99.9% of the programming on Satellite is 1080i if you change the display settings in the receiver to 1080p all your doing is asking the receivers scaler to Up-convert the natural 1080i image to 1080p and i highly doubt a ?50 receiver has the Marvell QDEO chipset for upscaling which is normally used in high end Oppo Blu-Ray players and some Pioneer A/V Receivers to actually give you a noticeable picture difference.

You also have to consider is your display device Full HD as in 1080p or is it HD Ready, As i know the STi and ALi chipsets in these closed source receivers can perform slightly better on HD duties than most Linux Enigma2 based receivers

Thanks Digi, mybox shows 1080p-50 and 1080p-60 and same in the 1080i i dont now which chipset he is using, issue is the scrambling is unbearable and i spoke to few other providers they saying f3 box has no life it can go off anytime.

obviously that is the truth as its an illegal service
what worries me is you have not read the rules regarding non-discussion of that service on these forums

My friend you would be better putting your money into something that has a little better build quality as mentioned in previous by ramjet the new Blade 5000s for ?79 will wipe the floor with these Cloned to the death Skybox F3/5 receivers.

You really do get what you pay for these days and that means paying ?50 for a Cloned receiver

no problem when you are talking about boxes like the blade bm5000s, but what all this talk of sly and what a server guy says its clearly against the forum rules as its clearly about ccc*m or newc*md and that is banned on here and on most forums too

stick to talking about the boxes and there wont be a problem , but as its clear you dont officially pay sly for their 3d channel I suggest you stop talking about it like in posts #1 #3 #7 and #9

some boxes are 1080i, others 1080p , but if the broadcast isnt 1080p (it isnt) then its a moot point
and there is only the one 3D channel , not two which is what you claimed in the opening posts

as for boxes, boxes "wont go off" , they will work for years, but the additions could "go off" in the next 5 minutes

I have the F5S and a Technomate 5402 M2 and the build quality on the Technomate is better but it has some major flaws such as when you put it in standby (Handy if you do not want the fan on) it loses the 7 day EPG and the network settings. My family prefer the F5S with AJ's channel list and say it is far easier to use and less than half the price of the Technomate.

I think we have discussed this before on another thread that the EPG on the 5402 is loaded to Ram and so when the receiver is switched to standby it loses the 7 Day EPG, as for the Losing the network settings thats a first for me and have never seen that problem it is either a Patch Fault or the receiver is at fault and needs exchanging
