am i right in thinking the channel lists and addons such as 1channel etc that are in the dreambox forum will work on a vu+ box??

not got 1 channel working on the vu,but others in ts media work.......at times

you should not have to apart from ftp the ts media and ts panel you should be able to get most of what you need from there servers plugins /download plugins usally green button then scroll to find what you require

To answer your question Yes as both are Enigma2 receivers so plugins that work on a Dreambox will work on a Vu+ 99% of the time

people should bear in mind that the plugins wont always work as it depends on the python version as well (oe 1.6 or 2.0)
in some cases this means that the fixes and plugins are developed twice, one for each oe
