Can I get a dreambox in my property?

    Hi all.
New to the forum, my mate recommended me as he says you guys are the place to be asking for help!

    Right.
Im looking to get a dream box but I live in a block of appartments... I dont have any Virgin/Sky installed, but I have the sockets in the wall for Sky (I think)...

This is what the sockets on my wall look like...

I have my normal TV Aerial plugged into the TV port (obviously) - this then provides me with my freeview.

What I wanna know is am I able to get a dreambox installed without having to pay for sky etc 1st.

Any questions, please ask. I'll be popping back & forth to the forum every half hour or so.

    Thanks alot

IF that socket feed is live then i'm 99.9% sure it will be connected to a communial dish pointing at astra 2 (skys satellite).

however sky is NOT hacked and therefor not available for free like cable, the only option with sky is via cardshare....we cant go into much detail on here as its illegal...but basicly is consists of someone owning a legit sky card and is in their sever...which send the keys down the internet to approved boxes (done via configs within the box)....however the hardest part is joining a good share as a lot are over subscribed, and as sky changes it keys every few seconds the server cant cope and the result is the tv at your end freezing more times than a eskimoe taking a pi$$ in the north pole...for this you either pay a fee to server owner or share a card back...this is as much info we can give on this subject on here m8 and further info google is your friend

ask the neighbours if any of them have sky, there will more than likely be a sky dish on top of flats so a sat dreambox would be ok but you will only get the channels where that dish is pointing so wont get much more than freeview

See how I thought it would work... if I plug a dreambox (sat) into the Sat1 socket, it would pick up & unscramble all the channels on sky :P .. obviously it doesnt work that easily... :-(

nope doesnt work that way at all m8, unfortunately.

the best way to test that feed is active is to try and borrow somones sky box, as you dont want to splash out on a box for the feed not be live and you'll be ~~~~ed

but yeah your mate was right...this is the place for help/info

*IF* the feed is live... do you think its worth the hassle from there to get it all up and running... obviously that depends on how badly i want the channels... but would i be able to pick up sky sports etc etc after everything is done?

No not worth it m8. As stated sky is not hacked and if the dish is pointed at astra 2 as suspected nothing will clear only free view.

                THE TRUTH
                The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

if the feed is live...then its all down to personal preference m8...if you join a share that has the full package then you will get sky sports.....some even have the HD package if you decide to go for a HD box like the dreambox 800 nor 8000......however as stated the hardest part is joining a good stable share at the correct price also you will need box connected to the net 24/7 so a router is required if you dont already have one

Would the persons share I join need to live in the same block of flats as me? (is this a stupid question.. )
What do you 'at the correct price' ? Who will I be paying?

I have a router/wireless etc etc. which is always connected.

                      Thanks!

cardsharing is highly illegal and forums can be shut down if they openly allow talk about it
