want to upgrade my technomate 5402

Have had it for nearly a year now and it has served me pretty well, but fancy something better. I want a box that will stream the picture to my computer on the second floor of my house, I understand I cannot do this with my 5402hd is that correct? Would streaming from a box via homeplugs be steady enough or am I looking at the wrong solution? Twin tuner is not essential but need 7 day EPG, pref one that downloads automatically, it drives the GF mad with current set up.

You need a Linux receiver any Single Tuner variety should do

The Vu Solo clones seem OK as well as a few others if thats what your looking at then go for it

As digicon says the ferrari solo clones are fairly rock solid but one word of warning on solo clone or solo original for that matter they may drive you nuts if using it in the living room as main box. Compared to your 5402 you are going to find them sluggish. Don't get me wrong they are a good box and technically being e2 they are an upgrade from your tm but for just watching tv in the real world you may find them a step back. As you may have guessed I have both solo clone and tm5402 yes the solo is essentially a better and much more adaptable box but I still have my tm in the living room with the solo in a bedroom. If you do go for a ferrari solo clone you will be getting a v3.2 which will run almost all original images however it will run much better if you use a v2 patched image of which my recommendation is openatv it is a cracking open pli based image which has almost promoted my solo to the living room
