Ok myself and a friend have tried to install a motorised setup using a dvb-s2 pc card. We have the dish on the wall and have followed this guide here and another couple which are similar. We have set the dish mount perfectly vertical and have the latitude of 52.7 which has been set on the motor. Now the problem is this, every guide i have read tells you to point the sat to Thor 1W using you sat receiver set to that satellite. Thats all well and good if your using a receiver, but i am using DVBViewer on the pc which needs to scan its channels before i can view them.
I also dont quite understand how to align the dish with the arc, if my motor is at zero, the latitude is set, the motor and dish are set parallel to the mount, as the diagrams show. Am i right in thinking with a receiver set to Thor 1W all we do is move the dish by rotating it on the mount bracket until we find a tv picture?, do this then mean that zero on the motor is 1W?
I'm still trying to understand the arc thing.
Can anyone tell me how i can setup DVBViewer with a channel on Thor 1W manually so i can then turn the dish manually to find it? I also have a small in line sat meter if i need to use that.
Failing this i am gonna need to pay someone to align it for me.
Thanks in advance
