    Receiving multiple signals.

Hello there, let me apologise if im asking stupid questions before i even start.

I recently got a skybox f3 and im wondering what all is possible with it and my dish.

I live in northern ireland if that makes any difference.

Ive read a few things about this but id like answers specific to me just to be sure.

Can i receive more than one signal without having to move my dish (28.2 and 13.0e)?
Can i recieve more then one signal with out having more than one LMB? at the minute i have 2 boxes in my house connected to the dish but one is not being used. (2 old sky hd boxes)

id prefer not to move my dish, infact im pretty sure my wife would hurt me if i tried, after losing her beloved sky+ then losing the channels i think i would have to find somewhere else to live.

    can anyone help?

The Dish points to one satellite only so you can only Pick up one or the Other

most people including myself will leave the sly dish with quad lnb doing the job its designed to do, point at 28.2e where sly comes from , also leaving sly boxes using it too

then you have a multiple output second dish with lnb rack giving several satellites , like 13e + 19e + 28.2e for example

or you have a second dish which is motorised instead and can pick up a number of satellites , one after the other

so as your dish is pointed at 28.2e , that is all you get, nothing else

getting a better box and motorised dish will bring better results.

Thanks for the answers guys, I appreciate it.

regarding getting a second dish, what sort of prices would I be looking at for a static dish? Does it need to be a certain size?

Hi nisickn013. You'd have to find out the cost locally or from ebay etc. but you are best getting at least an 80cm. dish.. I'm assuming the current dish you have is oval
and is a sky dish (they're oval in southern Ireland) but probably the new dish will have a round pole for the lnb and this will allow you to buy adjustable brackets to support other lnb's other than the fixed one in the middle of the dish. Sat-World - Irelands supplier of Satellite, Saorview & Worldwide TV. Just using these guys page as they show the brackets I'm talking about. Always got a good deal from them but not sure if they post/deliver etc, to northern Ireland.

The other extra lnb's will give you a choice of having other satellites coming in to your box but would need a diseqc switch to do this. There is also twin offset lnb's which if placed properly on the arm could bring in two satellites off the one cable..
So, it's time to start reading through the forums to get more info. or come back here

PS. It would be ideal if you have a south or east facing back garden as it then may not be necessary to mount the new dish on a roof.

              Hi

I am also from Northern Ireland and was basically asking the same questions

I have a sky dish aimed at 28.2 connected to my sky hd box and another sky box in the living room and I am not touching them as they are used by other people in the house apart from me and don't want to upset that and as the sky bill is split I am not being told to pay the entire amount if I mess something up .

I believe you are very limited by the box you are using I have a VU+ duo set up at the moment and got a second dish mounted which is aimed at 13e hotbird which I have connected into the VU+. It depends on how much you want to spend as I got the second dish for free as its a sky dish that my neighbor was no longer using and was taking down from his wall and he was going to throw it away so I asked could I have it but I will hopefully get the second sky dish swapped for a 80 or 100 cm dish with multiple LNB's to pick up more than hotbird although I will stick with my setup for now as I will be moving house within the next 12 months so no point changing dishes just to remove them shortly after. But a second sky dish will pick up hotbird on 13 e without any issues. Northern Ireland use the zone 2 sky dish

Hi redderv, the other strong satellite out there is 19 east and your dish should also pick this up if you want to turn it towards it. It's been a while since I was tweaking dishes but it used to be the case that you had to do a scan when you picked up a signal to determine which satellite you were on as 28 19 and 13 carried similar transponders. Anything other than the above three, then you're looking at at least 80cm dish.
