Sky decided to upgrade my SD box for free

    Hi Guys

Just wondering if anybody else has got this from Sky? I got a phone call yesterday saying they are going to upgrade my SD Sky+ box for free of charge if I agree to another 12 months contract. But I know that Sky give nothing away for free so what are they up to?

Phone them up and say your not happy you still have old sky+ box when others are being given all these deals for hd ones and months off then say about being offered deals from virgin.

Retentions is place to go (they do best deals with you take bundle with them things like broadband free for 6-12months)

You will need to agree to new 12 months contract so work out the savings.

if you get a new HD box then the card will be paired to that box and cant be used in a third party box if thats what the OP wants to do. dont trust them and as stated they do nothing unless it benefits them, regards mdt

Just brought a 500gb wi fi Hd box from amazon ?45 so stayed on one month contract. Interested that they know what box you have from phone line. They did do the paring but probaly not gained anything. But wanted ITV 2,3,4 CH5 TCM HD and Film 4 HD in spain I think this will only last for4 months or so

            Cheers guys

Well I don't mind the card being paired to the box as I am happy with the epg etc and have a vu for hotbird so all and all im happy. The box arrived yesterday and got it set up only to find out it had no rf outputs for the rest of the house rang them and said they want 25 quid for an io box. I am in two minds whether to ring them and tell them to shove their subscription. Been a sky customer since 1997 and they have the cheek to ask for 25 quid to get functionality my old box had.

Not only ?25 for the IO link adaptor but if you have more than 1 magic eye running from the box you will also need a powered RF IR Booster to feed thee power to the other rooms.

$ly have got pretty crafty with there new Wireless DRX890 receivers yes it has built in wireless but they also dispaosed of the RF/RF2 outputs at the same time obviously thinking that most poor saps will take a multiroom subscription due to the loss of the magic eye facility.

                Very Crafty indeed

Think sky are the masters of their own downfall they are too greedy for their own good. Cancelled sky about 20 mins ago gets cut off on the 12th of april. I remember back in the day it was 40 quid for everything
