    Boxes in USA?

So, I am here in the US and wanted to buy a SAT box. I am a total newb so wanted to know if SAT boxes would work here in the US? I do not have a Satellite in my home so that is what makes me ask. Can anyone tell me if they will work and if they can, what would be best suited here in the US. Thanks in advance.

You can certainly use Satellite receivers in the US it all depends on what satellite/'s you want to pick up as in the US its primarily C-Band and the fixed DTH Ku/Ka band satellites.

You will of course need a satellite dish to begin with

Hi kuasd, your best bet is to ask locally from sat. receiver retailer or you could google.

Thank You both for the replies. I guess I'm outta luck as I'm connected through Fiber in my home. I have no clue on how to install a Satellite. Would it be a difficult task?

Hello Cactikid, I have a IPTV box called Jadoo 2. It is absolutely horrible. I got it for Indian channels mostly but it is very unreliable which is why I wanted to try something new with Satellites. Guess I should look around for IPTV boxes instead.

Google IKS boxes and you'll find something bud. I'll either be cable or satellite im not too sure whats going on with the scene in america and most people here wont either. But googling iks boxes will sure bring up a few forums/sites from your end of the world.

If you do decide to go down the satellite route then have a look at Dishpointer First:
                  Code:
                  http://www.dishpointer.com/
put your address in and see what satellites you can view form your area i would imagine most will be on the far western side.

I have in the past on the forum seen other posts from US members using Dreamboxes over there so they must be able to pick up something

Thank You for that. I typed in my address but have no clue on how to read it. Guess playing with it might help.
